Private mods are because people create them either for themselves or buy them partly so that their character doesn't look too much like others, it's their strict right to have private mods, if they want to wear them in photos, they have the right too, it's not to disappoint people, it's just that their character has its own style, it's up to them to share it with certain people or not ^^ the whole thing is to respect their choice in all cases
Modders provide you with FREE mods, there are even a LOT of mods, so I think it's fair that they can keep some of their creations for themselves ^^
