After you change from a SMG/AR to another SMG/AR, the first gun's magazine will be refilled. But based on how you comment, you should check if this mod is installed and working correctly on your end.
Did you install the optional file Salt In The Wound - Consecutive Shots Tweak? Vanilla is 7 and you need that file to change it to 5 (and you can open that file and change to your desired value).
I wish they would make a dedicated perk tree for gun control stats and other tree should only have playstyle adjusting perk only. No more reflex gun/cool gun/body gun reload speed perk... just 1 gun reload speed perk, something like that :D
thanks a lot for this, the smg fun perk is absolutely insane and one of the main reasons why smg's are so strong, meanwhile ARs were pretty much bottom 3 weapon types in the whole game so this should really help making them more viable, at least late game. Also makes the salt in the wound perk more of a consideration, before i pretty much always skipped that one because you usually defeated non boss enemies within 7 shots anyways so it felt like a perk that only buffed 1 bad weapon type for the rarest enemies in the game. really underwhelming for a tier 20 perk
Glad you liked this mod. As first I though of buffing AR/SMG by increase the Sharp Shooter max stack to 10, but I though so I have to change the Salt perk to 10th shoot to match the theme, which was a nerf to a really underwhelming Ultimate perk, so I change the method and create this mod.

Could you just make "Salt in the wound" trigger on every 5th shot(may be even on each 3rd shot, because Prejudice and Prototype Shingen Mark V are burst firing 3 for example). The damage will remain the same that way, but it will trigger more often, which will help it trigger on the non boss enemies as well.

Submachine Assult Drifter is the same with the picture and in my perk.
I'm not sure why Salt in the wound is different.
