The new version is too bright under the sunlight. People look breached out. And eye adaption seems too slow to make it realistic in my opinion. The previous version was really great. It will be perfect if you can fix the shadow plume only.
This is definitely all preference based. To me, besides the completely black stairwell, all of the vanilla screenshots look better. It's nighttime, there are supposed to be shadows and dark, that's realistic, which is the point of Path Tracing... If you want it lighter, fine, do you, but you aren't "fixing" anything besides dark stairwells.
Why would someone turn on Path Tracing, take the performance hit to their PC, then download a mod that removes the effects of PT, while still having that worse performance? Just... turn off Path Tracing, the game will look like it does in your mod, and also run better.
As the author noted in the description, this mod is for those who have problems with shadows. I had one, too dark shadows in the daytime, while keeping shadows in the nighttime real dark. This mod somehow fixes that problem. So, thank you. :)
The reason a mod may disable RIS is because currently it is bugged and sampling raster/hybrid lighting data, causing objects in shadow to render global & local light bounces with Path Tracing.
I'd suggest a name change as it isn't a fix but a personal preference change to the lighting.
"Alternative PT Lighting" maybe.
Don't mean to be the push glasses up "actually" guy XD but this definitely downgrades the lighting quality even though it does make things brighter. Haven't done too much comparison yet but feels almost a before path tracing but not quite no path tracing.
I agree, if there is lighting behind an npc why would the front of the npc also have lighting. It goes against the realism path tracing is trying to do imo.
