Ha ha! Ew. I remember when 'chicken' was a reference to child prostitutes. Ugh, glad that's gone then. To be honest, seeing the garbage that 'AI' spews out, I'm just glad it didn't come out with something worse :(
Your point about Samurai is spot on. Lots of NPCs wearing Samurai t-shirts too, yet throughout the game it's made evident most people haven't heard of them and they're pretty niche now. I love the game but there's a real lack of attention to detail that does spoil the immersion a bit. I get the development was a mess but you see it even with new updates - the lore is all "NCPD are understaffed, it's chaos out there" and yet the NCPD update adds a cop to every street.
I'm painfully learning WolvenKit with a view to taking a run at some of those issues - the last time I devoted any major effort to modding was about 10 years ago on Skyrim, and the Elder Scrolls Construction Kit was an easier tool to use. I do have kind of a sh*tpost mod on the back burner to do with the pervasive Samurai stuff, but an actual chronological accuracy mod is going to need things like world edits, and I suspect it's easy to break stuff when you start messing with the set dressing. It's nice to see what's possible - 'Night City Alive' adding motorcycles to the routine traffic is great, and 'Lawless Areas' does what it says on the tin :D
In my wilder daydreams I think about a custom subquest in one of the unused Megablocks, somewhere between 'Dredd', 'The Raid' and 'REC', but that's the kind of thing I think you'd need a team to accomplish, rather like some of those massive Elder Scrolls fanmade expansions. Very intensive on time and effort.
