Hello, thanks for the mod! I have a question.. How did you manage to make it stop changing colors? I want to know for other mods to see if I can reverse the effect and apply it to them, it's interesting. If you can share it, thank you very much!
Hi, sorry for slow reply! You need to export the mesh Japan_town_face in Wolvenkit then look for the material.json file. Open it in Notepad++ (or similar).
If you look through there's a value there that refers to the colour shifting - do ctrl+F and search for "HUEChangeSpeed".
Change all instances of that value to 0, import the JSON and problem solved :)
The path is base/environment/decoration/advertising/signage/japan_town/textures.
There's an annoying quirk about modding this one though: the space at the top and bottom take their textures from *vertical* slices on either side of the main texture, at the top, and stretch the hell out of them - on my texture they stretch from the top edge to a point about 4.5 blocks into her hair on the right hand side, and an equal point on the left. I kind of cheated by giving it a border (intended to resemble the old RGB dots of a CRT monitor) that thankfully didn't look *completely* like total ass when stretched out in the way the game does it. Another odd CDPR design decision.
It's not the UV mapping, I've checked the main mesh (japan_town_mesh) and it maps exactly. I have to believe it's a couple of meshes there I can't locate without digging in the world sector, and frankly there are other projects I'm spending time on so I'm not going looking. Have fun and I look forward to seeing your mod!
Thanks! Hope it looks good when you find it. After I made the mod it took me ages to get the screenshots as I couldn't remember where the building was and I'd forgotten to save when I was near it :D
Huh! Thanks, I would never have worked that out. I'd seen that image referred to as "the witch" before so I guess I'm not the first :)
I mean, they could have had a full length standing picture of her, bestriding the junction like a colossus as befits the size of her ego, but instead they went for that terrible headshot with the straggly hair and a ton of empty space. Mix that in with the hue shifting and I seriously had no idea what I was looking at. Every day's a learning day!
