Verily, I say in the realm of Cyberpunk, where neon hues dance amidst the cybernetic cityscape. I once deemed the E3 2018 lighting mod to reign preemest among visual mods. But now a laudable nod to the NOVA LUT+ENV version, which, when paired with a subtle enhancement of monitor contrast, vibrance, and perhaps a modest brightness tweak, unveils a visual tapestry more vibrant and rich than any other mod in the land of Nexus.
For those who find the landscape colors appearing somewhat flat, fear not, for the remedy lies in the fine-tuning of thy monitor's contrast and vibrance settings. An additional flourish may be achieved through adjustments within thy GPU software.
May this tip illuminate the cityscape of Cyberpunk, rendering its pixels with newfound brilliance and splendor for all who embark on digital adventures in the neon-lit metropolis.
For those who are having issues with HDR PLEASE make sure to figure out what your displays capabilities are and then adjust them accordingly. For those on windows 11 the "HDR calibration app" on the Microsoft store is a good one to use and here's a little video regarding it. https://youtu.be/9h1YeYzV9Jc?si=hGvok8YwI3r7W74X
Something to keep in mind, if you have a cheaper display or a display that can't get very bright, it's a good idea to keep expectations in check as HDR itself needs a capable display. Lots of cheap tvs and even monitors can ACCEPT an HDR signal, tone map it, then cranks the brightness up to the max. But that can come with its own issues and is just a reality of cheaper tvs or even monitors which haven't been the best for HDR.
Also if you can do so and have a display capable, use HGIG BEFORE setting up your HDR. Then go in game and don't put the mid point above 1 and then set the brightness according to your display.
Here is a simple comparison i made of various luts for character portraits, for those like me who could'nt figure out which one to choose from. Only Luts no env's.
Came here just to say that this mod is ABSOLUTELY stunning. With my GTX 1060 6GB and i3-8100 with this simple mod my game looks WAY better than the PS5 version. Super easy installation, no performance loss, photorealistic graphics. Literally a 10/10.
Nova LUT Main, Classic, and Supernova (versions 2.1.0a/c, 2.1.1s) all appear overexposed in HDR on my display, with Supernova being the most overexposed.
I have taken comparison screenshots to illustrate this issue, which is evident on my display atleast. All screenshots were captured using the Supernova 2.1.1s LUT.
The first two screenshots look correct to me, while the third and even the fourth at a 0.7 Midpoint are overexposed. This overexposure is particularly noticeable in foggy environments, where the fog becomes so bright that you can't even see things behind it anymore.
i have the same problem. hdr is overexposed and to bright. reducing the midpoint to 0.7 doesnt solve the problem because then indoor areas are to dark.
I'm not really sure what to say. The HDR disparity is a hard one to solve. Most people are using it without issue but there are definitely some troubles for users with varying hardware, mod lists, and displays. This is a sample of my HDR experience with Supernova and Nova City (midpoint 1 / 1000 nits). Are you using any other weather or lighting mods? Are you only experiencing overexposure during a certain weather state?
I did not use any other lighting or weather mods in the screenshots provided, only texture/lod/pathtracing mods and Reshade (without effects) and the RenoDX Addon to remove vignette - all other RenoDX settings were vanilla-equivalent. I also tested with Reshade fully uninstalled, but the issue persists.
I have now taken more screenshots from the same location without any additional mods, just the LUT, and one with Nova City (+ requirements) installed. The overexposure is most prominent with Fog/Steam, like in Jig-Jig Street and as such the the "Vanilla - Fog" weather state, which is the same as in my previous screenshots does highlight my issue the most. When using Nova City, the image is even stronger overexposed in this weather state.
I've also added a screenshot from Vanilla Cyberpunk at that location, so there is another reference in HDR in addition to the Supernova SDR screenshot.
GPU: RTX 4090 Ingame-Settings: 4K / Everything maxed / Pathtracing / DLSS @ Balanced / Frame-Gen enabled (PT, DLSS & FG made no difference in my tests tho)
I absolutely love the LUT for SDR and it would be a incredible if it would work for me in HDR too. You did an incredible job with all your mods imo and I can totally understand if this issue is simply not feasible to resolve due to too many hardware variances tho.
I install my mods manually after a problem with a mod manager years ago. I have a general question about load priority:
I see how you named the archive. With a name like this, it's on the very top of the file list in the "archive" folder when sorted alphabetically...which probably means it is loaded first.
When an archive is loaded first, does it have priority over other archives? My brain says "no", but my brain is often mistaken. :D
I have to come back to this topic again, because I think you might be wrong. We had a little conversation about load order over at the Enhanced Weather v6 mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/3901?tab=posts&BH=0
Based on your assumption that the game loads bottom to top I changed the names of one mod that can be used in addition to Enhanced Weather v6, Alternate Weather Visuals. I added "zz" to the filename, making sure it was at the bottom of the file list, with Enhanced Weather above. So if the game was loading bottom to top, it would load Alternate Weather Visuals first, then Enhanced Weather v6.
The outcome was that Enhanced Weather v6 stopped working. Skipping through time it mostly gave me sunny weather and some misty weather and nothing else.
Went back to the old file names, so supposedly Enhanced Weather, at the bottom, loads first, with Alternate Weather Visuals after, and the weather mod started working again.
Of course I have only this one example. Plus Knochey, modder that did Enhanced Weather v6, also says his experience if different.
I can assure you this in the case. I’ve had my LUTs get overridden when I add one more # to the other. Weather mods can be different depending on the ENV or envparam files included in each. I wouldn’t recommend having more than one weather mod unless they’re specifically stated to work together.
If you need to force load order without renaming, use Archive Conflict Checker tool.
I see. So in this particular case it could be the exception from the rule.
Well, since all my other mods seem to work fine I guess I don't have to invest any more thought in my load order, but I'll keep it in mind for future reference. ^^
Hello CyanideX! I see thou didst enjoy my last missive!
I am but following up to inquire upon the updates. I am still most pleased with mine ENV (Vibrant). Yet, I wonder where the ENV "flavors" have gone? Particularly the vibrant one. I had planned to mod mine spouse's game with it. Hath it been archived?
If so, do any of the available options directly replace or update the vibrant ENV? I still possess version 1.1.0 upon mine machine and intend to cling to it for dear life. I cannot imagine the game without it.
No issues here, just wanted to say absolutely fantastic work. By far my favorite LUT, game almost feels unplayable without it now lol. Thanks man, keep it up 😊
I went back to another LUT for a few minutes, then started tweaking it with Reshade but was unhappy with the result. I just re-enabled Nova 2 Pure and realised tha was I was trying to mold the other LUT into this one - excepted it's done better and without Reshade.

Nova LUT - Pure 2.0 - ENV (Raster)-11622-2-0-1r-1705182406
Nova LUT - Pure 2.2-11622-2-2-0p-1705254954
Combind they only use up around 1mb. The new Version is around 7mb. Why the 7x file size increase? New Features?

All screenshots were captured using the Supernova 2.1.1s LUT.
- SDR @ Gamma 1
- RTX HDR ("AutoHDR") @ Gamma 1
- HDR10 PQ @ Midpoint 1 / 1000 Nits
- HDR10 PQ @ Midpoint 0.7 / 1000 Nits
The first two screenshots look correct to me, while the third and even the fourth at a 0.7 Midpoint are overexposed. This overexposure is particularly noticeable in foggy environments, where the fog becomes so bright that you can't even see things behind it anymore.Display: Dell AW3255QF
Type: QD-OLED
Peak Brightness: ~1000 Nits @ 2% Window / ~500 Nits @ 10% Window
Modes tested: HDR Peak 1000 / TB400 / Dolby Vision - all exhibit the same issue.

So I have an MSI G2422 Monitor (nothing special) and the windows settings show this:
Does this mean my monitor doesn't support HDR? Or do I have to turn it on somewhere else? Does it mean I can't use LUTs in general?
My System Specs:
CPU: Intel i5 12400f
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4060ti 8GB
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 16gb DDR5
I exclusively use SSDs for storage.
Any help would be appreciated
Nova LUT supports both SDR and HDR. Just install it and go.
