# Elder Kings 2

This is the *development version* of Elder Kings 2, an Elder Scrolls Total Conversion for Crusader Kings 3.

**You will find the *stable version* on the [main branch](https://https://github.com/Elder-Kings/elder-kings-ck3/tree/main).**

The development version can be found on the [develop branch](https://github.com/Elder-Kings/elder-kings-ck3/tree/develop).
Use the latter only _if you know what you're doing_. This is hot code, **stuff may break**, **updates ***will*** break savegames.** Support is only provided for the **main branch**, bug reports are very welcome on both.

## Installation

To install this mod use the following steps.

1. Extract the files to your Crusader Kings 3 mod directory. On Windows this is usually `%userprofile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\mod`
2. Make sure your files are in a folder called 'elder-kings-ck3'.
3. Go inside `elder-kings-ck3\mod_files`, and move the 'elder-kings-ck3.mod' up into the `Crusader Kings III\mod` folder - so that the 'elder-kings-ck3' folder and 'elder-kings-ck3.mod' are on the same level.
4. Launch Crusader Kings 3 - if this has worked correctly, you should have 'Elder Kings' as a mod option in your launcher.

The file structure should look a little like this:



If these steps don't work, check your elder-kings-ck3.mod file and make sure the properties at the top match the location of your folder.
If you get an error about a 260 character limit, try extracting it on your desktop, then moving it to the mod folder.

## Scope
The aim of this mod is to deliver a grand strategy experience to CK3 players within the Elder Scrolls universe created by Bethesda Softworks, and has been in active development since September 2020, the same year Crusader Kings III was released. Elder Kings 2 features an entirely new world map covering the landmasses of Tamriel and Yokuda based on both official lore sources and many high quality fan sources. Likewise all major and many minor races of Tamriel are fully realised as 3D models, many with custom clothing and map object assets. Additionally, Elder Kings 2 has some custom features over CK3 vanilla, such as
- Custom Feature: Magic
- Custom Feature: Vampires
- Culture: Nativity Zones
- Religion: Pantheons and Patrons, Dynamic Holy Sites
- War: Might makes Right
- New Governments: Autocracy, Pirates, Altmer Ceremoniarchy, Mane Hierocracy, Academy (Unplayable), Military Order (Unplayable)
- and much more

Choose any ruler (with a playable government) in the year 2E 440 or 2E 450 and guide your dynasty through the turmoil of the Interregnum.
