If you like this mod and endorse it, please also consider to endorse "Loose Files Loader" by registrator2000 because my mod wouldn't have been possible without it. Thanks to him/her and to you
I really love what you did here. I experimented a bit and have one recommendation for every user of the mod:
For a polished black surface / dark chrome-like look. Install the silver skinpack with the cylinder-color you prefer. After that, install the black skinpack with the matching cylinder-color over it - replacing the one file they share.
I use the following combination:
Silver skinpack with golden cylinder + black skinpack with black cylinder over it. The result is that the whole service-weapon looks black but has somewhat of a mirror-polished finished to it and the cylinder has a polished gold look.
Thanks, I'm glad you like and have fun with the mod
What you said is perfectly normal since that to give a metal aspect for the Silver/Golden skin I had to modifiy the Service Weapon specular map. To keep the original aspect for the Default, Black and White skin I had only modify the diffuse map for these.
So when you install a Silver/Golden Skin and install a Default, Black or White skin over it without uninstalling properly (deleting the weapon form folder) the Silver/Golden skins before these modified specular maps are always present and give this shinnier/polished look whatever wich skin is installed .
For the convenience of potential others users who would like also this shinner look with the Defaut, Black, White skin I've uploaded an optional file that contain the specular map for each weapon form.
Basically: Install the Default/Black/White and cylinder color you want for each weapon form then install this "shinnier patch". Ofc it's pointless to use it if you have only installed a Silver/Golden skin given that they already contain the shinnier specular map but it's not a problem if you use a Default/Black/White skin in combination with a Silver/Golden skin and you want to apply the shinner look to the weapon form that have the classic skin.
Ugh, four years late to the party but it's rather dissapointing that the black skin doesn't get access to the silver and gold cylinders now that I actually found this.
Just FYI to other users, the game only shows the cylinder color when the weapon form is expanded in "aim" mode. When it's compact and casually held by Faden's side, the weapon is all the one chosen primary color (just as it is the one dark-metal color in vanilla).
This threw me for a loop until I realized it's working as expected.
I can't seem to get it to work. I think I followed your instructions properly though. 1: download the skin pack you want (I chose gold) 2: extract the .rar file (I used 7zip) 3: take the "data_pc" file of the cylinder color option you want (all of them come with the gold gun skin, right?) (Do this for each color) 4: put the "data_pc" files into the game directory (the file with the games .EXE file) did I mess up somewhere?
Hi! First of all I love your mod, but like others I wanted a default skin/golden cylinder version, and I wanted to edit Surge too, so I decided to do it myself.
I edited the Default Skin versions and combined them with the Silver w/ Golden Cylinder versions to make a Golden Cylinder one for each, as well as Surge, however I don't know how I'd go about editing Surge's specular maps to make a golden/silver version for it.
The most confusing part is I cannot open your edited specular maps to see what you changed. Both Gimp and Paint.net throw up an error when I try to open any of your edited speculars.
The folder struckture is a bit confusing but skin and cylinder colors/textures are the same file. Choose the skin color, then the weapon an then the cylinder color. Your combination is possible. Golden Skin folder contains golden Cylinder folders. Sadly not all color combinations are present. For excample the golden cylinder is missing in the black skin folder.
1: What color do I have to choose to get this used metallic-blue look from the first two images? 2: Not all weapons have all cylinder colors. For example black grip misses the golden and silver cylinder. 3: Where is the 6th Weapon from the DLC?
Gold cylinders are missing from the black skin pack and black cylinders for the gold skins didn't seem to work. Also, none have Surge. Great mod though!
