    I'm sharing these settings here to help others customize their HDR experience, aiming for a more vibrant look without altering the artist's original intent, while ensuring HDR details are properly preserved.
    My reference display is a Samsung s90c QD-OLED, so the final result might vary slightly depending on your screen.
    I tested these settings in different environments and found that neither dark nor bright areas were compromised.

    Copy these settings inside Reshade.ini under [renodx-preset1]
    You can find this file in the same folder where you placed the HDR files, but after launching the game at least one time with HDR enabled.
    ColorGradeBlowout=1
    ColorGradeContrast=50
    ColorGradeExposure=1
    ColorGradeFlare=0
    ColorGradeHighlights=55
    ColorGradeHighlightSaturation=55
    ColorGradeSaturation=55
    ColorGradeShadows=48
    FxPostProcessGrain=1
    ToneMapGameNits=250
    ToneMapPeakNits=1200
    ToneMapType=1
    ToneMapUINits=220

    If you want to tweak the ReShade settings directly in-game, follow these guidelines:

    • Peak Brightness: Set it to match your monitor/TV's peak brightness.
    • Game Nits: Set to 250. The default is 203, which looks a little too dark.
    • Game UI: Set to 220. This controls the brightness of the UI — don't overdo it if you're using an OLED panel.
    • Exposure: Leave it at 1 — do not touch.
    • Highlights: Set to 55 (that's +5 over the default) to make horizon elements pop a bit more.
    • Shadows: Set to 48 (that's -2 from the default) to compensate for the higher game nits.
    • (Note: a value of 46 might look better under sunlight, but it feels too dark in caves or dark areas for me.)
    • Contrast: Leave it at 50 — do not touch.
    • Saturation: Set to 55 (+5 over default) to make the world more colorful and vibrant without losing detail.
    • Highlights Saturation: Set to 55 (+5) to give highlights more color and a subtle halo effect.
    • Blowout: Set to 1 (+1 above default). Important: if you leave this at 0, you might get strange colors in the highlights.

      How do you even get this mod to work?

      EDIT: turns out I was using Reshade without add-on support.

      Thanks a lot for this - I spent most of the day yesterday losing my mind trying to get it to look right.

      Did you use any tools or just go off the look of your monitor? Im just surprised that with a completely different monitor, these settings still look great.

      With the AW3423DWF, is the peak brightness supposed to be set to 1000? Or 400?

      Depends on the HDR mode you're using on the AW3423DWF. If you use True Black 400 you want peak brightness 400 and with HDR peak 1000 you want 1000 nits

    Does this work well with Optiscaler? Also, does this have a preset already for the game or do we adjust accordingly?

      i posted about a few comments below, i cant make it work on any way. Until reno gives us a way to fix it, right now ur options are

      Renodx (the best image so far, game looks amazing)

      Optiscaler + rtxhdr (obviously better fps but the hdr is just...meh)

    I figured out how to get it working on game pass without the ReShade installer (which doesn't work for game pass)

    • Drop the mod files in /XboxGames/Clair Obscur - Expedition 33/Content/Sandfall/Binaries/WinGDK
    • Also drop the mod files in the binaries folder of some Steam game you have
    • Run the ReShade installer on the Steam game from step 2
    • It'll download all the shader files into a reshade-shaders folder
    • Copy reshade-folders to the folder in step 1

    It's worth the hassle if you have a real HDR display (OLED or LCD with dimming zones). It looks AMAZING.

    So since DLAA causes crashes, is it better to run the game at 66% resolution scale with this HDR mod, or at 100% with HDR off?

    So I always wondered if RenoDX uses same method of HDR retrofit as Special K? I know RTX HDR is more of a screen filter so it's my last choice. My guess RenoDX is more precise because Special K works with almost anything while RenoDX support handful of games. Thanks :)
