Just in case this catches anybody else out - at least on the GamePass version, this folder:
%localappdata%\Sandfall\Saved\Config\WinGDK Doesn't exist until the game has been launched at least once. If you copy/paste that string and the folder is not found, try launching the game, closing the game, and copy/pasting the directory string again
Change the Engine.ini r.TonemapperGamma to 2.2 for a brighter game
The gameuser settings ini is empty to make sure it's cleaned out when user opens the game (gets filled automatically. Will do the same for V6 where its with my settings currently).
The performance boost is significant for me on a GPD Mini with a Ryzen 7840U, with Proton. 60 fps seems even achievable, but there is something wrong with the color and tint. Blacks are way too deep, something is off, and many details are lost in those dark blacks and shades. This is V5, with no other graphics mod. Any ideas? I already tried deleting the shadercache, but honestly it looks like a gamma issue.
For everything that this mod does really well the creator is kind of insane about how deep they like shadows. It's mentioned on the mod's main page but open engine.ini in a text editor and find r.TonemapperGamma. Change that value to the default of 2.2
It became apparent that I really like it dark, it's been wildly pointed out. Whenever I come back to this I'll re-upload it again on a higher setting (I did already before, it was way darker before).
You have to run the game at least once. If you've done that, being pirate I have no idea where your version will save this files. There is one in mine with this name "Sandfall_PCD3D_SM6.upipelinecache" you can try to look for this file in your system and see if it's there, if it is then open folder location and it's the "save" folder
Organize by "created". Assuming this is the last game you installed, the location will be the folder with a bunch of numbers most recently made. The path from there (from memory) is pfx/drive c/appdata/local. If that's not quite right or you still can't find it, just search for ".ini" from there. Also save that compdata location if you crack a lot of games so you can pull it up easily. Save games, .inis, and all that kind of thing will always be in there.
Except for Hogwarts Legacy which for some reason was a whole other beast
It'll be in compdata. Home/deck/.local/share/steamsteamapps/compdata. Enable hidden folders for the .local or copy paste.
Organize the compdata by created/modified to find the most recent game, assuming this is the last one you installed. The folder will be a bunch of numbers, use the date it shows or search the file name for the mod from there and you should be able to find it
Also save that folder location if you use a lot of cracks. It's a time saver
That isn't right! Try to go through the troubleshooting to delete the folder containing the precomiled shaders and all settings in it, an re-install the mod (baclup the save folder just in case steam cloud fails).
Yes. that folder contains everythimg that the game saved, created and compiled since you downloaded it, including your savedata and shaders. Again, remember to, inside that path, find the "saved" or "saves" folder and make a copy elsewhere.
Once deleted, open the game once, that folder will automatically be full again, and re-install the mod
my dumbass thought it was the shadercache folder first... But ive tried it twice now and once i get to the same area, its still weird but first there is some red (i think its just light and not the actual texture), then it does a weird flash and it turns back to the grayish black (Edit: Excluding the little red thats in the picture). i just tried the v6 verison and it looks normal here, unsure now if i want to degrade the graphics even more or just tough it out, unless if ur not able to fix it. overall though the mods amazing, thanks god, much love <3 Edit2: just got inside the house in search for maelle and everything is just white n gray with yellow lights n lines in the wallpaper x)
Oh dayum. It's related to a bug in the bug reports. I didn't have much time this week due to IRL stuff. I'll fix it whenever I can along the next week. Thanks for the feedback!
Turns out it's a game bug, not a mod bug, weirdly fixed on V6 https://www.reddit.com/r/ROGAlly/comments/1k8q82p/expedition_33_on_my_rog_ally_looks_too_bright_on/
Yes! I'll go through the changes on V6 that I touched regarding lightning that fix this and will try to apply these into V5. Main issue is that I lost my savedata because I'm an idiot and am at the beginning of the game. Without much free time I can not barely work on the mod, but I have to play first to get ther >.<
Quick question, if I download a save data can I freely teleport across areas to test this?
Yo, I'll be your test dummy for steam deck owners with DeckHD screens lol. This is SO close to running so I can beat it on this device however there are some graphical glitches. I am using your V6 and trusted the process. (I assume you want me to set the resolution to 720p in "steam properties" and then use Steam deck upscaling) if I can hit avg 40 fps on this 1920x1200 screen I'll be satisfied. Attached is a photo of what I'm talking about. Any help would be appreciated. Good work soldier!
