The only place that I do not know the level of the enemy is Sunless Cliff because after checking inside the data files, Mime shows level 13 and 0 which it can't be. So, I decided to leave it ??? until further research.
NOTE: If it may seem that the enemies are stronger than you expect, it may seem that the enemies level got overridden. In order to make it more accurate, please tell me the Enemies' HP approximately when you battle them (I can make more comparison and see if the dev really put the enemies' level low, but tons of status multiplier which explains why low level enemies seem to be stronger)
coastal cave shows as level 8, i found it strange since i found this way up in the map, so i tried it and ooops, i'm level 30 and the fight is very hard
I'm not sure I understand fully how this works. My characters are all level 55ish. But I enter the floating places and see the level indicator saying something like Level 8... Yet those monsters can easily still one shot me.
As for the coastal cave, I wasn't lying when the enemy is lvl 8. I saw it in the data files as you can see from the picture above. There may be some kind of override status or level, let me check first
Silly question. Would this.. work on any other language other than English? I do play in french, but I don't mind at all having the locations level in english.
1 level above character should be fine, I think he find it in the game code. But, if you can handle the fight just fine (a.k.a the area doesn't have danger attached to it) its an exp farm.
I agree this is a bad game design, alongside the lack of a map or a journal to keep a track of where you were. You never know if you are 50 levels behind or 3.
i wonder if it is possible to change the icons of the locations on the map, find it hard to see many times. what tools could i use to attempt this myself?

Because rn I'm at a location that's 1 level above my characters.

and Any Encounters file related. Some of them override the level which makes it pretty annoying to conclude.
Something like this, either above or in the healthbar. The only way to know an enemy name is when they attack currently.
