How are the DDS files saved? I've tried making my own upscale but whenever I load up replacement DDS files (mine, not these) they are just solid gray. Any idea why that would be?
I am having the same issue. I have tried looking online and could not find a proper fix. Only ones with this error were people having trouble setting up a server in COD 2 multiplayer. Nothing for COD 1 SP. I even upped the 'seta com_hunkmegs from 128 to 512. I can play the training level then the game gives the error above after the first map loads a third of the way. I really want to play this game in HD.
I started playing United Fronts, which does have some HD textures for weapons. The mod even requires you to set the memory higher, through an in game option. Perhaps that is something the mod developer could look into? Just throwing it out there.
I found a way how to run it You have to install United Front then drop the files in UO folder then go to Options > General > Memory Mode > 512 and it runs on OG COD levels
I discovered the problem that was occurring with the file, I saw that many people like me when finishing TRAINING, when trying to load the PATHFINDER map the game crashed and presented the message BAD MAGIC ERROR, the problem is in one of the textures that the modder placed inside the file, the textures followed an average size pattern of 11MB , the texture name was pathfinder_dn.dds , first I looked for the name of the map that the problem occurred and I looked for its textures inside of the file, I removed the textures named pathfinder**** and the game started to load normally, then I noticed that one of them was very different from the others, I just corrected it and saved it inside the zcod7.pk3 file, now you just have to download it from this link that I'm putting here and replace the modder file.
roger561 thank you for your advice. I found 88 MB texture file in zcod1.pk3 and deleted it. After that error disappeared in normandy mission with the car
hey bro, can you tell me how you got into the game files? I have been wanting to make mods for this game for a long time, but I did not find anything on the Internet
There is also a problem with Sewer texture it glares

Also the glass of windows textures reflect even inside, their glare is too noticeable it sticks out like a sore thumb, glare is in original too, but with upscale it got even worse
@reytt Got a fix for the sewer walls, I upscaled the textures myself this time. Grab this : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Pz4iB816UDAXow5w05cVmzZ2agTmQn2b/view?usp=sharing Then open zcod3.pk3 with 7zip and go into zcod3.pk3\textures\russia\walls\ Then drag the 2 files in there to replace them and voila the Sewer Walls are fixed (they shouldn't be white at all and reflection should be minimal) I'll look into the windows color/reflection, I don't remember what mission you see them.
@countbuggula Great mod even with the few hiccups ! I wish you could do United Offensive because I don't know how to do upscaling with ESRGAN as you did. Cheers !
@t1mothy777 You're right, that 88mb makes the game crash and you can remove it to fix the issue, I fixed it by scaling down the res to x2 instead of x4, so it's 4096x4096 instead of 8192x8192, and it works fine, no crash and renders properly. You can download the file here : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OF2c-bXF838cemofPRH_5CD35t1_Tsn4/view?usp=drive_link To use it, open zcod1.pk3 with 7zip for example, go into zcod1.pk3\textures\normandy\foliage\ and replace foliage_clamp@2048_treeline.dds by mine in the pk3 file and you're good to go.
@roger561 : Your file doesn't fix anything because your zcod7.pk3 doesn't have a "env" folder, so basically it's like you're not using the SkyBoxes because the textures are never loaded and it uses the original SkyBoxes, also you just took another file and renamed it, even tho the res and actual image is completly different lol I guess it fixes the issue but that's not the right way x)
There were problems in the first Call of Duty. The animation of aiming through the front sight is jerky, and the animation to lie down and stand up is also jerky. The game itself is stable at about 100 fps. All NPC soldiers also move smoothly. There is no such problem in Call of Duty - United Offensive.Tried different graphics settings and resolution.

You have to install United Front
then drop the files in UO folder
then go to Options > General > Memory Mode > 512
and it runs on OG COD levels
tho some of the textures look kinda goofy and frames drop noticeably from locked 75 to 69-70
After texture
before
Note after HD mode some details are lost
Original textures and details
HD mode
Paintings look pretty good upclose
