I would do so, otherwise it will very likely jitter. Plus TAA is quite blurry anyway. Fair warning though, this preset is quite old by now and RTGI has advanced and changed quite a lot. That means this preset will only work as intended with an older version. I hope I specified which... Edit: I did not. Good job, past-me.
Especially temporal stability has improved greatly as far as I know. (how little/much it will lag behind movement of the camera or ingame objects) I'd recommend you use the newest version, if any. It'll be a bit more performance intensive, but the result should be better. It's rather easy to get a decent result with too. For BL I'd turn off the specular stuff though.
Using RTGI ends up crashing my game a few seconds after loading up my save. I apologize if this has been addressed and I somehow glanced over it. I'm not used to using shaders. Sometimes the crash gives an error, but most of the time it just throws me out of the game. But when there is an error, it's an Ecxeption_Access_Violation error
Oh strange.. No this hasn't been adressed anywhere. I'm assuming this has to do with the preset being almost 4 years old now and there are some old settings the new versions of rtgi aren't agreeing with.. Does the same happen if you do not use my preset but turn RTGI on in a blank preset?
Your preset works fine. It's the RTGI which I purchased from McFly i think a couple months back. I guess it being even like a few months old is enough for it to become outdated because it crashes out after a couple of minutes or I'm having memory issues with my 3070
I know this is a little old, but I got a V__texLUT error and when i enable the LUT effect; my screen goes black, i followed the steps exactly how it's written so not sure what's up.
Huh. I'm surprised you're the first one to mention that. Did you follow this too? Because I myself almost missed it.... "drop the lut.png into reshade-shaders\Textures"
Screen goes black means LUT file is missing. Which would be the case if you missed this.
Hello i am trying to use your reshade preset with RTGI but i dont see a difference off or on even who there is some performance loss when its on , I'm using RTGI 0.17.0.2 and reshade 4.9.2 , am i missing something ?
Try opening ReShade and messing with the right most tab. There are different depth buffers and rtgi needs.. well the right one. It's one matching your games resolution
i didnt even grab your preset because i couldnt figure out how to get it into reshade but, on the bright side ive worked with enb series before on all bethesda games and i made my own reshade preset with the reshade program. so none the less thank you for turning me onto the reshade download link never knew it existed. got borderlands looking the way i like most of my games with strong colors and dark this is awesome ty very much.
I'm finally getting around to playing BL3 and this looks great, thanks! I have a couple questions: 4.5.4 doesn't have the options you have listed. I'm now sure if the repository it points to has changed, but none of those options is listed. The latest version, 4.9.1, works great with this preset, however. When I use the RTX version, I get driver crashes in the game menus (switching from tasks to maps, backpack to skill tree, etc...). In game it looks amazing, so I've been trying to figure it out but no luck. Any suggestions?
Oh, thanks for mentioning the version issue. I probably updated the guide to match the newer ones I did and simply forgot to change to a newer ReShade version.
As for the RTX Issue.. no good idea. Best I've got is that it somehow messes up the depth buffer selection to one that crashes the game. I doubt enabling RTX would change anything about them, but I'm far from being an expert on that stuff. CP2077 crashed when I selected a "wrong" one and Reshade tends to switch sometimes when menus pop up (e.g. NieR:Automata). So there's that going for the theory at least. Try selecting one matching your resolution and see if it still happens.
I don't own an RTX card, so I can't test myself, sorry.
EDIT: I just realized you probably mean the RTGI version. I checked, I can switch around just fine. It crashes when I wanna exit it anyway though, lol.
I might update this due to RTGI having a couple of new features. I changed a couple thing real quick to somewhat match the approach I usually take now, thoughts? Swapped NFAA for SMAA swapped PPFX Bloom for Neobloom (which only blooms from a certain distance) New RTGI Settings being put to use https://imgsli.com/MzgxNTE/2/3
That looks great, thanks a lot for looking into it. Yes, the RTGI version is the one I meant. The other one works great without issues and looks really good but it's tough to go back after playing with RTGI for a little bit, even if it does leave me anxious when looking at my map. I got lucky and got a 3080 and the games with real RTX have nothing on BL3 with RTGI, it looks incredible.
I can switch fine for a little bit and then it suddenly crashes, giving me a driver crash error. I only get it with RTGI in BL3, so I'm pretty sure it's not an issue with my pc.
Thanks again, I appreciate the work you're putting into this. I should mention I'm using RTGI 0.17.0.2 and reshade 4.9.2.
No worries, I upload my presets for others to enjoy after all. And to be honest, it's fun tweaking an old preset once in a while :D
Back to the issue at hand, I'm using ReShade 4.9.1 and RTGI 0.19. I tried "hotswitching" in borderless fullscreen and exsclusive Fullscreen, both work fine. I was able to check the depth buffers while switching and a couple of them do change when switching to the map, but no crash nor does the one active in the game world disappear. So that's ruled out then I guess. I tried using RTGI 0.17.0.2 too, but no crashes on my end. :/
This is a weird one for sure. I don't remember exactly, but wasn't there an issue with early 30 series drivers where the boost curve was set too aggressively for many cards? Maybe the sudden change in load causes the driver crash, that's my last guess. My FPS jump up quite a bit when looking at the map. GPU's tend to boost higher on less intensive load, that's where im coming from. I know this doesn't exactly explain why it only happens when RTGI is being used, but it's worth a shot I'd say.
