However, the biggest help was chatting with the experienced modders at these two Discord servers: Borderlands 3 Modding and Shadow's Hideout, though it appears the latter has a new more Borderlands-modding focused sub-server which they might prefer you use, here: Borderlands Mod Support. You can also find me in those servers or direct message me through Discord (StygianEmperor), though it's been a long time since I messed with BL3 and I've forgotten most of it so I'll only be of limited help.
As someone who knows nothing about coding, compared to other games' modding I personally found Borderlands 3 weird and difficult, but still very rewarding. The best thing I've found in general is to download existing mods that you're clear on what they change from the base game and look at the mod files (.bl3hotfix files are actually just .txt files!) to see if any of the numbers match up with what you expect, and sort of reverse-engineer from there.
great mod, but i still find myself utterly annihilated after lightly touching any gunshot residue i happened to create. could we see a self-damage immunity version of this potentially?
I have actually already made that for Iron Bear, but not for Moze - as far as I'm aware I can't make a character deal less or no self-damage specifically; I think I would have to mod every single weapon for that (This mod reduces splash damage Moze takes in general, whether from an enemy’s weapons, her own, or Iron Bear’s while piloting it). However, that's not so big of an issue for Iron Bear's limited selection. Here's a link to that, and I'll get it hosted here in a minute (had been meaning to anyway): Iron Bear - No Self-Damage on the BL3 Mod Wiki
Edit: Okay, added it as an optional file to this mod. Hope that helps.
