I may be wrong... So, this might not help with your "banning" question. From what I've read, Gearbox doesn't just go around banning people, I run mods and I have had Cheat Engine running BL3 exe and haven't had any issues. However, if someone reports you, expect to get banned. With BL, I never play with random people, only my friend (because I don't have plural friend) and my friend knows I mod. I play SP or with him. So, it might not help, but if you use mods and you join someone or a group, see if it's ok with them first that you run that way.
Really helpful since editing from bl3 editor one by one items is such a headache! Do you know whether unlocking body / final form cosmetics is able from this way?
