I was wondering, what happens when you reach level 40 if you choose to get 3 skills per level? I believe the games maximum skillpoints is around 80. So do you stop to get more skill points or to you keep getting 3 skill points up till lvl 72?
No idea. I never go beyond one playthrough or about level 40. I allowed for the mod to keep adding skills up to level 99 just in case, though. There are various level caps depending on what DLCs are installed, but I think the current max is 80.
I assume any skill points that can't be allocated will just pile up. IIRC, each class has a different number of allocatable skill points, so it would be a whole deal to try and cap skills points at a maximum to prevent extras (and not especially mod-friendly).
Great question! It does not. So, best used with new characters.
But... You could use a save game editor to give yourself however many skill points you would have had if you'd been using this awesome mod from the start. Just remember that you don't start getting skill points until level 5, though.
I get all the way to in game but when I try to put in the exec command, it just regurgitates whatever I put into console into the chat. Is there some type of format I'm not doing? I've named the save skills.blcm so I put in "exec skills" and the console writes back "say exec skills". Have I done something wrong?
followed all steps, didn't work, for starters there wasn't even a "BL2 Binaries Dir" button when saving so i had to manually select the folder (that I suppose was "binaries" in the game's folder), but now when I try ro run the exec command opening the console, is just appears like i'm using a chatbox "00:00 player: exec the name I put.txt"
It sounds like OpenBLCMM couldn't detect your game installation path, so you can't make the INI tweak to enable the console or automatically find your BL2 Binaries directory. Looking at the source code reveals that it tries to get the path in two ways. First, it checks the registry (either HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Steam App 49520\InstallLocation or HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Steam App 49520\InstallLocation). Failing that, it checks for BL2 log files stored at (for example) My Documents\My games\Borderlands 2\WillowGame\Logs\. I couldn't find a way to override the path in OpenBLCMM's interface or config files weirdly enough. But you could create the registry key and put the path to your game in there.
Also, check the log files for OpenBLCMM and see if it's finding BL2. They're located at %LOCALAPPDATA%\OpenBLCMM. Look for lines with "blcmm.utilities.GameDetection".
Alternatively, you might be able to enable the game console by installing the PythonSDK for BL2 and optionally Text Mod Loader. Then you just put the mod files in binaries directly (yes, Borderlands 2\Binaries) and can execute it as-is. However, this will only allow the default setting of 2 skills per level. Or you can still use OpenBLCMM if you wish to customize the number of skills per level.
