I'm currently working on version 2.0. Dec 14 2024, I'm still slowly chuggin away. Recently had a bug eat my key layer in Procreate for one of my spritesheets. Apparently, Procreate doesn't save backups unless done manually (which I will now do). Lost about 10 hours of work (over about 6 monster sprite packs). It's a small setback for sure, but once my heartbreak fades, I'll be back at it.
Misc items (plants, tables, room objects) 100% done Enemies/Scientist 70% done (was 80 but well...) Walls (this is a post-first release goal) 0%
There are almost 1000 images that I'm hand retooling so it's a slow process and since I do it for fun first, I can't guarantee any realistic release date yet.
Thanks for all your work on this! I was doing a search for Blake Stone texture packs every now and then and just happened to spot your showcase video on YT. Really excited to try this out!
A year went by and didn't realize you replied to my message lol. Just popped into my head to check back on this project. Any thoughts on whipping up an upscale pack for Planet Strike? Curious how long it took to get v1.0 into release form. It works surprisingly well as is! I went back to the DOS version a while back and couldn't believe how much BStone brings to the table. I always thought movement was more fluid in the original game, or at least not as choppy lol. Anyways, thanks again for this!
The installation is extremely incomprehensible and complicated for Amateurs. Should I copy ALL files to my root directory from Bstone Master Zipfile? Should I extract all PNGs from AIP.zip to my root directory? Or should I just copy the folders from the ZIP to my root directory? According to the installation guide for the AIP mod I only need the Bstone.exe from the GitHub archive ("Honestly you just need the 1 executable file called BStone.exe") but there is NO Bstone.exe in the GitHub archive!! The only non-executable Bstone file is a batch file. Bstone.exe does NOT exist!! I really don't have a plan or nerve anymore. I give up! Far too complicated!!
There is a RELEASES option on the Github page that takes you to this page Release v1.2.12-1 · bibendovsky/bstone · GitHub . At the bottom are downloads. Once downloaded, open the zip file and drag/drop the Bstone.exe file into wherever the game is installed and run that instead of the old file.
For my mod, open the archive and drag the folder into the the same location as the Bstone.exe....that's it.
I'm working on Version 2 which includes hand tweaking every texture at 2x upscale then upscaling them again with the edits. That should really clean up the lines and add much more detail to things that kind of were smudgy (like faces) because of the limit size of the originals. But it's going to be a few months before release, though.
