With thanks to gsldol and finnbough for indicating this issue.
With windows 7 and windows 10 set bladesoftime.exe compatibilty to 'win xp sp3' otherwise helix will not work correctly.
setting in dx9settings.ini InitMouse = false allows mousepointer to work correctly under windows 10
update 31/07/2024 v1.1 - set shaders to full precision (remove _pp) clothes npc weapon environment and structures skin body npc and avatar full precision gives a bit more accurate color and definition to textures, etc. - remove vignette blood and wounded - reduce turbulence and blur heat wave fx - reduce dof when zoomed in with rifle - added curve shader
Odd. I am speculating but it could be the dinput8.dll file How ever if it is removed reshade will no longer work only the helix shader tweaks. The dinput8.dll is part of the ultimate asi loader which seems to be updated see: https://github.com/ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader/releases
Maybe in time I will update the package not really sure how ever if this will adres the issue.
I found a tricky work around: Set to window mode in-game. Close the game. Enter Big Picture Mode of steam, launch the game in Big Picture Mode window, when it ask for admin privilege, left click "yes" button several time quickly. You will stay in steam window, while the game will load in background. Then swicth to game window, the mouse will work. And I use "Windowed Borderless Gaming" to make the game borderless full screen.
'rename d3d9.dll to d3d9.bak' That will cause helix to no longer function
The steam big picture mode might be a viable solution, for some, kudos for suggesting it!
Just in case it was overlooked from the description: Set bladesoftime.exe to 'win xp sp3' compatible for helix.
Arrgghh windows 10. With windows 10, tested with version 1903, setting bladesoftime.exe to 'win xp sp3' compatible causes the mouse pointer to disappear... My apologies only recently was I able to test this will change this in the description.
So for clarity on windows 10 do not set bladesoftime.exe to a compatibility mode.
I'm a noob when it comes to modding and I found the instructions frustrating, I gave up after spending an hour trying to understand. thanks for the effort.
