WOW. I was a little skeptical going in, but this is so much nicer than the maudlin violin track. Gives me Mass Effect vibes which is always a good thing. I kinda miss the mechbay cantra track but willing to lose it. I wish the barracks and ops room were not silent too, its kinda jarring having the space bop cut out when I'm checking my pilots.
Being skeptical is always a good thing. My subjective opinion about the violin track is that it gets tiresome real fast, because you're hearing it all the damn time non stop, you need some time for yourself (silence) so the soundtrack "can rest". That's why you have silence in those areas. Also the vanilla main theme is just too damn depressing.
Hey! I recommend installing this manually. I don't know if it works with Vortex (never used it) but since this mod doesn't follow the usual folder structure for Battletech's mods I don't think it will. Please let me know if it does and I'll add it to the FAQ.
Thank you for the wonderful mod. The computer voice was inspiring such Id love to do my own voice mod for this game.
Would you have resources and tutorials available for us to know how to modify the music bnk/wem files as well as the voice lines? This would be really wonderful as I just now starting to learn how to use battle tech mods and getting serious enjoyment out of the game!
edit: endorsed, works like a charm (I don’t have DLC atm)
3) After using that tool you'll get a bunch of .wem files which are in wwise propietary format, those are the audio files you'll need to replace. To know what correspond to each audio line I used foobar2000 with vgmstream plugin to listen to those .wem! Install that.
4) Google wwise installer and install that too. To make this mod I used version 2019.1.4.7065. a) Once installed you'll need to create a new project. Save you project and quit. b) Open again wwise, load your project and then click "Project > Import Audio files... > Add Files > select the files you want to convert from .wav to .wem and then>Import" c) "Project > Convert all audio files" d) "Project > File manager", then right click on "Project folder" and then "Open container folder" e) In the new explorer window that just opened go to "\.cache\Windows\SFX" and there it should be your "yourfilename_somerandomgarble.wem" files.
5) Here you'll need to change the name of that/those file/s you just converted to match the exact same name of the file you want replaced. For example if I wanted to replace the voice file that says "Disengaging from Jumpjets!" I would need to rename "yourfilename_somerandomgarble.wem" to "25126111.wem" b) Then with BNKEditor open the corresponding BNK file, go to the line corresponding to 25126111 and click "Replace WEM with..." and select your new "25126111.wem" c) Repeat the previous step for every audio file you want replaced. d) Once you're done click "save BNK as..."
And that's it, you just made your first Battletech audio mod.
I'm using this with BTA 3062. You'll be fine... the universe will survive, I promise. In any case you can swap the files at any time (just make sure to backup your original files).
Thank you for providing simple, complete installation instructions. I have moved my music slider up to max for the first time in over a year. I endorse wholeheartedly.

The new drop music is actually fire.
And yes, I also think drop music is fire.

I hope this is enough info to help anybody get started:
dialog_sim.bnk
vo_computer.bnk
vo_pilot_player_character.bnk
2) Extract them with BNKEditor 1.0:
