The latest Main Vanilla mod update [April 20th 2022] did not change anything to the Standard and Alt files, only added a folder for mod after unzip to help with install. But two other mod options that REQUIRE the DLC have been added, I list the new one below for you.
Main DLC file was added that gives a single Heavy Metal Cache on Campaign Start like you get in Career mode games
Alt DLC file was added that includes now the DLC weapons in addition to the vanilla base game weapons
Quick question - I know in vanilla, the difficulty of the available mission's is tied to your campaign progress. For example, near the middle of the campaign, you will ONLY have 3* missions with no option to do lower difficulty ones.
Does this mod fix that? As in, when the world is opened up, do you have access to missions of any difficulty?
Mission difficulty is based on your rep with the faction that offering you the missions and also increases the further you move away from the outskirts. Generally, systems are pegged to a certain range value no matter what your progress is (example the 4 systems at the very start of the game you have access to will always be 1/2 - 2 skull rank).
works fine, just needs to have a folder created by you in the modtek mods folder and not the my games mods folder. unzip into that created folder and the mod will be recognized in game and work.
My first attempt at a manual install did not work - that is (1) unzipped to the Mods folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BATTLETECH\Mods, but (2) your mod was not listed when I clicked the Mod button on the lower left of the Battletech main menu. Suggestions are appreciated and thanks.
That isn't the correct file path for mods if you are using the default mod loader (that is where mods go only if you are using modtek). The default mod loader is out of Documents/My Games/BATTLETECH/Mods
Nevermind. I found the solution in the closed bug report. I had to create a folder for the mod in the modtek mods folder and unzip the archive into there and not directly into the mods folder. not the my games one either, just the one in the steam version path.
Damn this is EXACTLY what I wanted, I'm sick of that starting mission and being stuck in that tiny space when there is a wider greater world to explore!
That said why did you load up our inventory with a bunch of weapons?
I uploaded the wrong file version. I put 2 of each weapons for myself for a quicker mech customization start since I was using BEX where the game start dates was advanced to when lostech was now regular tech.
Uploading the correct file now and marking the incorrect one as optional download for those who also want to change up their stock mechs.
