It seems that not all lights go out when you press CTRL-SHIFT-H. At least for me it looks like this.
I saw the problem at Cataphract CTF-1X. Perhaps not only him. I'm using JK_Variants

Thanks for the info. CTF-1X is the first mech I've seen with two headlights. Mod is only affecting one of them so shutting them off only shuts off the one.

This should be now fixed, in 3.0.2

love the mod....adds greatly to immersion....its one of my goto Quality of Life mods i always use.
and i really like the addition of blips having lights.

would it be possible to have the blips lights at the lowest intensity without affecting the players mechs?
right now with blips lights on and the way i like my player mechs light to shine i get really bad bloom/flare from the blips.

Thanks. I'll see if I can work in a feature like that, probably aim for a configurable value.

Update: v3.0 addresses vehicle intensity and blow-out with volumetric factoring

I just installed your mod to see if it is a work-around for the headlight texture issues some people (such as myself) have been having since 1.1.2. I just want to use it to turn off all headlights; it works turning off my mechs, but I can't seem to turn off the radar blip headlights: when I set that item in the json file to "false", I lose the ability to turn off ANY of the headlights. Am I doing something wrong?

I've updated the mod to 2.1.1 which should correct that problem. Thanks for reporting.

I tried version 2.1.1 (is it supposed to say "2.1.1" inside the mod.json file? it doesn't...) and the behavior is the same: ctrl-shift-H turns MY mech's headlights on and off when radarblip is true, but not the radarblip headlights, and when radarblip is false, ctrl-shift-H doesn't do anything. Is it necessary to abandon old ironman-careers to get mods to kick in? Mine isn't that old, but I was trying to avoid the trouble...

Thanks for letting me know. Typo on the mod.json, won't affect it. Don't worry about the save game, it will kick in when the mod is working properly, not tied into saves at all. Back to the drawing board.

Looks like my last build went sideways, uploaded the wrong dll. 2.1.2 should have the proper functionality...

It works now: radar blips have no headlights, ctrl-shift-H turns my mechs' headlights on and off. I know this isn't a part of your original mod, but how difficult would it be to turn off the enemy headlights in non-blip (fully visible) mechs? Since all headlights for me overlay a black hash on the terrain, I am hoping to eliminate them all, if possible. Thank you very much for everything so far, whether any more can be done.
UPDATE: I set the cone angle to zero, and the game accepted it! There are now no headlights! Thank you very much; I am going to post this to the Paradox Bug Forum as a workaround for those affected by the lighting issues.

Thanks, I'm glad people are enjoying (and reporting problems). Great that it can be used to work around a bug!

Using this in urban biome nukes my fps down to 13, from my already poor 30-40ish with a 2080ti/2700x.

I've confirmed it on my end, will see what I can figure out.

2.1 fixes the FPS drop on my end, you?

Youll likely see more fps increase from clean installing the updated Nvidia drivers. Unless you paired slow DDR4 with those, you should not be seeing it dip that low on the fps.

Sure would like to turn off the headlights when I am sneaking up on that base!

likely means your trying to run the 1.7 version of the mod and not the 1.6.2 one.

I was using the 'BetterHeadlightsLegacy-457-1-0-4-1570476950.zip' file.
That is listed as 1.6 compatible.

Perhaps some conflict with BEX CE?

It should be compatible with everything pretty much, and I work a bit on BEX-CE too. If you're still having issues let me know what those may be but include any errors you're getting, like the output_log.txt file.

@gnivier, just downloaded your mod and tried with V1.8, noticed that with the mod enabled vehicles are invisible except for their headlights. Is there a specific parameter I should adjust to fix this within the json file?

    Thanks!

The newest one is still doing that? I'll have to check it for bugs again if so. Thought I solved that with latest.
