I got this softlock bug (especially with Basic Panic System/Punch Out) way back in versions 1.1 and 1.2. Played 1.3 for some 20-30 hours, never happened.
Came across this mod in the Recent Activity stream. "*harumph*", says I, "a fix for a bug that doesn't happen any longer". The very next mission I play, the game softlocks on the last enemy ejecting.

Played some 15 missions more, on 5 of them the last enemy ejected, haven't had the game softlock.
I'm not sure if this mod works or not. I'm using Battletech 1.4.
I had a mission where an enemy mech didn't get removed when it died, so I saved, installed this mod, restarted, and loaded the save. The mod didn't kill the bugged mech and end the mission. Maybe it has to be installed before there is a problem?
I ended up using debug mode to end the mission successfully. I wanted those 500,000 extra cbills!
