How to revert back to the original hardpoints of all the mechs? I made a copy of the original "chassis" folder before using the mod just in case. I pasted back this chassis folder to get back the initial hardpoints of the mechs, but unfortunately, there was no change and nothing happened. So, is there another way to fix this issue, or how?
I would strongly suggest using Chassis Editor to personally edit your hardpoints. And to edit hardpoints on all DLC mechs (ie: the chassisdef is in a unity asset bundle) this post on reddit goes into great detail.
There is a way to make it work, at least for the 63 "original" mechs that came with the game at release. Open up the zip file and drill down to the "chassis" folder (BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\data\chassis) and copy that folder. Then go to the game install folder and find the same path ( in Steam on my pc it is [your drive]:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\data\chassis ) and replace the 'chassis' folder with the one from the mod. Check 'yes to all' when it asks you to add and replace existing files.
***MAKE SURE to backup that folder before you replace it of course, in case of hiccups.***
That should give you the slots; if you check your mech templates and see 24/24 on all the hardpoints listed you know it worked. Currently any new mechs added by DLC are not modified until someone can edit those JSON files as well. (sorry, warhammer/marauder fans..)
This does appear to work for existing saves; you'll have to go in and refit again to take advantage of the new slots.
this looks like a cut and paste situation to open up 5 slots of 'energy' weapons, since i opened a file and it has 6 locations of hard points. would i add "WeaponMount":"Ballistic" and add this to the 6 locations? also the file open listed weapons, are those the only weapons allowed?

It does require Modtek.

More generically that's (INSTALL FOLDER)\BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\data\chassis for the main set replacement by the chassis folder from the mod.
