I really wish this used the actual stats. (ie Lighter weight, LRM damage scale, the 1-2-3 slot size for the 10-15-20 respectively) As is this is a pass from me.
That's really easily fixed, pull down his mod and then alter the weapons files. I was thinking the EXACT same thing. These weapons never went extinct and they make sense in the periphery.
I started out by giving them LRM damage, but when playtesting I found they just weren't very useful like that. I found myself questioning why I'd ever spend a hardpoint on a single-shot weapon when I could use it for a multi-shot SRM or LRM instead, and the best solution I found was to give them higher damage for that one shot than any other missile weapon could do.
With the stats as they are now, for around the same price, weight and size you can get either an RL20 or an SRM6 plus one ammo bin. The SRM gives you multiple shots on different turns, but the RL gives you more then three times the damage in it's one shot... which makes it an interesting tactical choice rather than SRMs being hands-down better in every way.
Cheers! Very nice addition ^^ I hadn't thought about it before, but iirc they are also canon, right? At least I seem to recall them being mentioned in one of the novels as kind of a nasty little 'surprise' some gladiators added to the hips / legs of their mechs on Solaris VII *shrug*
Sure, they're canon, and according to sarna.net are often used by periphery nations who can't afford more advanced tech. So they seemed like a good fit to put in primitive/periphery shops.
After reading up on them on sarna.net, I didn't realize that this systems were actually heavier (0.5t but still) than their counter-parts oO! So I think I'm remembering a different weapon-system altogether that an author created under use of 'artistic liberties' ;)
Basically they were only bolted on tubes like with an irl recoilless rifle that were loaded with 2 or 3 srm-one-shot missiles. They were 'worn' on the legs right under the torso, so the enemy gladiator couldn't tell right away what "those strange tubes?" were to give them that nasty surprise factor when he suddendly had a faceful of srm's to the cockpit ^^
Edit: After thinking about it, I think I'm going to add these to your mod to be able to use both :D I'm thinking about them coming in 2, 3, and 4 one-shot srm flavor, only instead of mounting them on missle-hardpoints it would make more sense to be able to mount these tiny 2-missle-systems only on support-weapon hardpoints so they can be used together with a melee-attack. Additionally it would make sense to limit their range to 90m / 3 hexes, since these basically come without the support of any guidance-system whatsoever.

Thanks for the mod AND the insperation! :D
