It looks like you're still polishing this and that's great. I am tracking until you have it nailed down.
I am a big fan of upgrading loading screen items, both to hilarious effect (Uncle Sheo for Skyrim) and to properly fit the theme (Loading Screen Quotes for Fallout 4), so believe me when I say you're in good company.
Really enjoying this mod, Delta Assault. Thank you. I have edited my own copy of general.txt to cut out any lines over ~350 characters. That seems to be maximum for readability and my eyes
I like the idea and I'm definitely keeping a few of these around, but you should probably tone down the length on ... well, quite a few of these. They get shrunk down to a crazy degree -- like 6-9 or so lines of text where there are usually about 3 max -- and the tips only stay around for about ten seconds. Your average reader who's half paying attention needs more than 10 seconds to get through 4-500 characters when it isn't written in common vernacular, and they certainly won't retain it if they do.
Remember, these are tips -- they're popcorn for your thinkin' bits, so keep them somewhere near bite-sized for easy digesting.
Oh yeah, I'm well aware. It's always a hard thing to balance, because you don't want to edit down something to where it loses the meaning and doesn't even make any sense anymore. At the end of the day, I probably have more of a tolerance for long text blocks then some other people.
If I had just used pieces of text that could fit into 3 lines, there'd only be about... 20% of what the mod has now. Given that choice, I'm okay with the result.
[edit: didn't notice the other post about visibility time, oops] Instead of making them bite-size, is it possible to make them load only once per page? To deactivate the timer on them so there's just one tip per page load?
is there any way to make the tips stay more time in the screen? i love them but i have to wait till the second or third time a tips appear to read it in full and some of them i have only read the beguinning and the end XDD
Believe me, I would have changed it if I knew how to. If you ever find the setting for that, let me know. But at the moment, I'm gonna guess and say that's probably hardcoded in.
