PLEASE NOTE: Frosty is designed around Origin, if you're playing on another platform (Like Steam) it's going to have issues. You can change the primary platform that Frosty launches from through its settings tab. Tutorial here.
Also make sure you are using the latest version of Frosty (Download here) when using my projects.
This is simply beyond amazing mod, and I really enjoy playing it so much. However, I'd like to inform you that British AI models in the "Storm of Steel" chapter is pretty much portrayed in low quality.
I also got some questions if you wouldn't mind:
1) Since the real Harlem Hellfighter unit was mainly fighting with the French forces in reality, is it possible to replace the low-poly British models with French troops in the future updates? For the British tanks, I understand this might be even more complicate stuff to do, but ONLY if it's possible as an 'optional' choice, I think Renault FT might be suitable to replace them, and may be remove the "For king and country" dialogue as well, if possible. (but no problem if you can't do nothing with this, just French soldiers are enough for me)
3) Is there will be any change for Townsend uniform in the second mission of "Through mud and blood", from regular enlisted soldier uniform into the officer one? [Optional] Along with the royal flying coat worn by McManus?
4) Change the insignia on regular British enlisted caps from the Tank Corps insignia into proper ones? (especially the "Runner" chapter)
5) For Avanti Savoia! chapter, remove ribbon bars on Italian regular soldiers' tunics (both corpses and AIs), since it's weird they worn something like this directly in the battle and one of the ribbon bars is also anachronistic WWI Victory medal ribbon bar (suggested by one of my colleagues). And maybe include better models for both Italian and Austro-Hungarian corpses as well.
6) [Purely Optional] Apart from the Renault FT I mentioned earlier, is there any plan or possibilities to change some vehicles and aircrafts among certain chapters? For examples: - Change Fokker Dr.I in "Friends in High places," "Avanti Savoia!," and "Nothing is Written" into Albatross D.III with German's, Austro-Hungarian's, and Ottoman's markings, respectively. - Change British's Pierce-Arrow Armored Lorries in "Through mud and blood" and "Nothing is Written" into Mercedes 37/95 (MP). - Change British's Pierce-Arrow Armored Lorries in "Friends in high places" into EV4 ARMORED CAR (MP). - Change British's Pierce-Arrow Armored Lorries in "Avanti Savoia!" into KFT Scout (MP). Also note that due to the technical issues in MP, KFT Scout is used by German faction while Mercedes 37/95 use by Austro-Hungarian faction instead: 37/95 and KFT Scout : battlefield_live (reddit.com)
Hello! Apologies for the delayed response on this, been very busy with irl stuff the past few months. I'm gonna try break this down point by point as you've done for the response if that's alright!
1. Yes you're correct about low-poly British troops, I've been wanting to change them for a good long while but unfortunately can't due to the fact that they're used across multiple missions across the entire game, meaning that replacing them for this one mission would also replace them there, however it's a great suggestion nonetheless if only it were doable! As for vehicles, I'm actually unable to change them (At least with my current knowledge, not sure if it could be done at all ass it's not something I have any experience with).
2. That's actually a great point, dunno why I hadn't done that already tbh. I'll definitely get on that at some point!
3. I was actually contemplating doing this when first setting up the project, but ultimately decided against it both to save time/space but also because accounts that I've read show that officers in general would tend to favour EMs uniforms for the sake of making themselves less of a target, and I've even seen photographs showing tank commanders doing this. I also decided against it because then there'd be a big inconsistency with his appearance in-game and his appearance in pre-rendered cutscenes.
4. I did want to do that but didn't think it was a big enough change to justify it since you barely see it (Although, as you say, it is far more noticeable in The Runner chapter so I'll probably get round to it at some point as well!)
5. I didn't think about the Italian corpse models tbh, I'll fix the ribbons on them too. As for updating corpse model uniforms I know I rushed these a bit but it's because these models aren't classified as characters, they're world objects, meaning that I can't just swap the uniforms out. I'd have to take other low poly character models with correct uniforms, pose them to how they need to be, apply the poses, and then replace each one in the files one by one, which is an arduous and tedious process. I might still do it at some point, but it's very low on my priority list tbh.
6. As I said earlier, vehicle modding isn't really something I'm familiar with, only uniforms for the moment but I'll keep these suggestions in mind if that ever changes!
Overall, thank you for the kind words and the great suggestions, I'm really glad you're liking the project overall! :D
Hi, apologies for the delayed response! Unfortunately they can't be used together thanks to how they're both setup, replacing files from one another and creating conflicts that would crash the game unfortunately. Hope that answers the question though!
Hey man i love your work soo much! btw could you make a early war (1914) singleplayer mod? you know its actually made for mp and some places in sp (like kap helles) the models are kinda messed up... that would be cool!🙃
Hey there, sorry for the delay in reply! Been very busy in my life lately.
I actually thought about making an early war singleplayer mod but it really didn't make any sense to do so imo, considering all the missions are set in 1917/1918, except for The Runner, which is 1915.
If you download the files you'll notice there's actually a separate mod for The Runner which you need to use on its own for that story, and then there's another mod for all the other campaigns, which was to make sure that mission had its own unique atmosphere and appearances.
Hey man,i have an issue with the mod. When im trying to add the mod in the Frosty Mod Managers it shows my the error:Archive contains no installable mods.
Hey man.Sorry for the late reply(almost 1.5 month later). It still doesnt work.It shows me the error:an unhandled exception has occured. The text that Frosty Mod Manager shows me is that: The file 'Mods/bf1/1916 - Enhanced Singleplayer, The Runner.fbmod' already exists. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.File.InternalCopy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite, Boolean checkHost) at FrostyModManager.MainWindow.<>c__DisplayClass27_0.<InstallMods>b__0(FrostyTaskWindow task) at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.Execute() --- End of stack trace from previous location where exception was thrown --- at System.Runtime.ExceptionServices.ExceptionDispatchInfo.Throw() at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.TaskAwaiter.HandleNonSuccessAndDebuggerNotification(Task task) at Frosty.Core.Windows.FrostyTaskWindow.<FrostyTaskWindow_Loaded>d__8.MoveNext() --- End of stack trace from previous location where exception was thrown --- at System.Runtime.ExceptionServices.ExceptionDispatchInfo.Throw() at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.InternalRealCall(Delegate callback, Object args, Int32 numArgs) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.TryCatchWhen(Object source, Delegate callback, Object args, Int32 numArgs, Delegate catchHandler)
I'm not too familiar with the technical and troubleshooting aspects of Frosty, tbh.
I would say just make sure everything is up to date, be sure to use the latest official 1.0.6.1 build of Frosty, and do the following:
Delete Frosty, and delete the "ModData" folder from your BF1 installation file (Where bf1.exe is located) so that you can reinstall all the modding stuff from scratch. Download and open Frosty 1.0.6.1, scan for BF1, make sure it's set to launch with the correct platform (Origin, EA Desktop, Epic, etc, there's a tutorial for that in the stickied comment), install the mod as normal from scratch, and see if works then.
If none of that works, then I'd recommend asking for help on the Frosty Discord sever.
I feel like this sounds racist but could you make a submod change for the Harlem Hellfighters to Canadians? Only reason im even asking this is because of the use of brits and british tanks in the storm of steel mode which is cool and all but doesn't really make sense.
Don't worry, I don't think you're racist for saying that, but I will say I'm not going to make that change for a few reasons.
Main one is because this project wasn't designed around having Canadians, so adding all their gear and equipment in would take some effort. Secondly, because the protagonist character talks about his grandfather's experience in the Civil War, I feel like it would be quite distracting for the Harlems to be replaced. Lastly, the Battle in the Storm of Steel mission is seemingly portraying elements of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, which was a multi-national push by the Allied forces (Including the Harlem Hellfighters, specifically) in 1918, making it work in context.
Hopefully you understand, and I hope you enjoy the mod nonetheless, cheers!

Try extracting the fbmod files from the zip file and installing them directly.
If that doesn't work, then please make sure you're using the latest public version of Frosty, which you can download here.
Hope you get it sorted!
The file 'Mods/bf1/1916 - Enhanced Singleplayer, The Runner.fbmod' already exists.
