I like the extra tweaks you made, they make everything feel more fleshed out.
but did you just completely murder the Balance perk though? xD
tbf I did think it was OP and basically the best armor perk all around with the +40 defense skill bonuses but it now it feels miserable to nerf it so heavily after getting used to it I dunno

An excellent mod, but with the current parameters it is more likely intended for heavy armor guys. When the Armor Weight compares to half the Fatigue/Initiative, at high levels and/or brothers with good characteristics, the optimal Armor Weight for Balance and Perfect Fit is 50-60, and it is quite far from setted by the Lithe perk (and logical) value of 25-35. So, these three perks almost not work together.
It seems what it is worth lowering the level of maximum recommended Armor Weight for medium armor, and since this uses a comparison with the characteristics of the brothers - change "half" (of Fatigue/Initiative) in formulaes to "third" or even "quarter".
I would love to try this alternative version of the mod.
Anyway, thanks for a great job.

      Hi Bobling,

Thank you for your message and kind words! :)

No, it doesn't work like that. The "Maximum Fatigue/Initiative" of the character refer to the Fatigue and Initiative capacity that you have after gear e.g. armor etc. It does not mean the Base Initiative.

Also the bonus drops with Current Initiative, not maximum. So, for example, a character with 115 Base Initiative, wearing 35 Fatigue armor and carrying a 10 Fatigue weapon will have a Maximum Initiative of 70 because 115 - 35 - 10 = 70. Hence, this guy is right on the border line for using a 35 Fatigue armor with Balance. Any heavier armor, and he will start losing the bonus.

Also, heavier armors lose the bonus much faster. Let me give you an example using the current version of the mod 1.3.1:

      • Case 1: Wearing 35 Fatigue armor, and Maximum Initiative 70. You build some Fatigue in combat, and now your Initiative is 60. So you are 10 points below 2x of 35. The bonus from Balance will drop from from 15 to 13.
      • Case 2: Wearing 45 Fatigue armor, and Maximum Initiative 90 (you put a LOT of points into Initiative). Now you build some Fatigue and your Initiative drops to 80. This is again 10 points below 2x of 45 (just like it was 10 points below in case 1). The bonus from Balance will drop from 15 to 5.
As you can see, just by going 10 Initiative below 2x of armor weight, the lighter armor guy (35 fat armor) loses only 2 Balance, but the heavier armor guy lost 10 Balance. This is described in the perk description's last line "This drop is faster for heavier armors".

Hence, the ideal armor weight for Balance is 35, with a Maximum Initiative 70+. Yes you can use the perk with heavier armors, but you will need a massive amount of Initiative (especially as armor fatigue subtracts from Base Initiative to calculate your Maximum Initiative).

I hope that now you can see, that even though the perks are usable by all kinds of builds, only medium weight armors will benefit the most from them and the most consistently.

I hope this clarifies the situation for you. Let me know if it still isn't clear.

Thank you, got it. I focused on the tooltip on the perk icon to get the maximum Balance bonus out of combat, completely forgetting that Fatigue and Initiative tend to change in combat. Now I'm going to dress up my overweight fighters in 35 <armor and see what happens.

First of all, thank you for such a good mod!
It really changes the gameplay for the better. But of all the changes I like the most the changes to the skill "balance". Can you pls make a standalone version?

Hi, I'm glad you like the mod :). Maintaining a stand-alone version adds a lot of work as then if I update something in this mod, I have to update the other mod separately. This can take up a lot of maintenance time if I have to maintain several mods. However, if you want the changes to Balance only, all you have to do is the following:

      1. Copy the perk_mar_balance.cnut file from my mod's "scripts/skills/perks" folder.
      2. Decompile it using Adam's modkit (http://www.adammil.net/blog/v133_Battle_Brothers_mod_kit.html).
      3. Open the decompiled file (perk_mar_balance.nut) and change the name in the first line from "this.perk_mar_balance" to "this.perk_legend_balance".
      4. In line 7 "this.m.Name = this.Const.Strings.PerkName.MARBalance", replace MARBalacne with LegendBalance.
      4. Rename the file to perk_legend_balance.nut
      5. Put this renamed file in the "scripts/skills/perks" folder of the main Legends mod (you can open the .zip archive and put the file in that directory in it - there is no need to unzip the Legends mod).

Afterwards, remove my mod from your Battle Brothers Data folder (so that you keep the original Legends medium armor tree but with the Balance perk using my mechanics). Note that this means that the Balance perk will be in row 6 like in original Legends.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Nice rework done!

Currently Perfect Fit seems affected by "current fatigue" not just by "armor fatigue", which limits loading heavy weapons in backpack to swap.
Is it intended? Cause tooltip says nothing about weapon weights.

Thanks for your comment. Perfect Fit only depends on two things: Armor Fatigue and Maximum Fatigue. Specifically, the bonus drops when your armor fatigue exceeds half of your maximum fatigue. When you put weapons in your bag, it reduces your maximum fatigue. And if your maximum fatigue is now less enough that armor fatigue is more than half of it, you will start to lose the bonus.

Maximum Fatigue is different from "Base Fatigue". Maximum Fatigue means your current fatigue pool. This terminology is consistent with other tooltips which mention Maximum Fatigue in Battle Brothers e.g. tooltips of injuries.

Current Fatigue refers to the Fatigue you have built by using abilities etc. in combat. Perfect Fit does not depend on that.

Wow thank you for detailed answer.
I've thought max fatigue is same as "base fatigue" which means they are not changed by equipment.
      Now it's clear and I understand :)

You need the latest test build of the Legends mod which is 15.0.1.4 along with patch 1.1. You can get it from their Discord server.

Thanks for the comment. Glad you like it. After you have played with it, if you have any feedback it will be great if you can share it, for further improvement in the mod.
