There is no secret, just download this mod and replace the 3 folders, then you must:
1- Enter the game and press the "END" key and when you are on top of the gargoyle press the "HOME" key 3 or 4 times and then return to the game's main menu.
2- Play story or challenge mode and keep pressing "HOME" during the loading screen and press "HOME" 1 more time when the game starts.
it's not that i can't download some, but they don't show in-game after i select them (i managed to play with base-skin harley after downloading https://www.nexusmods.com/batmanarkhamknight/mods/273 but not with the fanmade skin itself)
As far as i know, you can change your model by going to the character trophy inspection screen and then pressing a certain key to load the textures get into memory in full fidelity in the game. That's why i wanted to know what key that is or where i can change the key bind.
If you want to do this through mesh-swapping, you will also need the code for the skin you want. Furthermore, if you want a key that is not the same as the Console key to do this, then you will need to configure a .TXT file and bind a key to it.
So i did everything just as you said but it did not work and im not sure what i did wrong to be honest. Maybe some codes were missing in the skin .TXT file?
No it still does not work. I wanted to play as Man-bat, these are the mesh-codes i placed in the skins .TXT file:

If you watched man-bat in the showcase and pressed the "Skins" key while watching him and then pressed the key a few times when the screen went dark, it should have worked. However, there are some skins that just looking at the showcase is not enough, like Deathstroke for example, but I don't know if this is the case with man-bat.
So, i tried i couple of other meshes and it still did not work lol, i don't know maybe it's just my dumbass that can't figure this out. If you want you can make a tutorial how this works, but you do not need to do this, besides i have already asked alot from you.
hey so i just fully data wiped the game removing every mod and reinstalled and tried all the steps and its still not working and im not sure if the console key is working either so now im thinking im installing it wrong
I don't know what's happening in your case and I've already helped several people with problems with mods. The installation involves replacing the Binaries, DLC and BmGame folders.
is there a way i can put batgirls stealth movement on catwomans animatino so i can use stealth or just use batmans normal stealth crouching doesnt matter

Edit - Update: OK just got it worked, my laptop was combining F12 key function with Home, so I made it work by pressing Fn button while pressing F12 so that it switches to Home function key
Hey at the moment the story is a little bugged where using the communicator to the ear it makes the character T-Pose and unable to move. Not game breaking, but a little annoying.
So after installing the mod, every time I fire up the game I would have to activate it (End -> Home 4 times -> Home) before playing for the animation swap? Is there anything that I did wrong? Or missing?
You only need to do this once for each time you enter the game, if you do this and don't exit the game you can enter and exit story/challenge mode as many times as you want without having to repeat the process again.
(End -> Home 4 times -> Home on loading screen until game starts-> Home 1 time during game)

1- attacking an enemy climbing the steps will result in an animation failure.
2- Depending on the position in which you attack from behind, it may result in a failed animation.
3- If you attack from the floor grate, turn towards the enemy before attacking.
Some of the codes that are included in your Console and their function if you want to deactivate them.

2- Put all the skin mesh-codes there, whatever you don't want to use, put = in front of the code to invalidate it.
3- Go to DLC\313101\Content\BmGame\Config and open BmInput
4- Place this code inside BmInput:
.Bindings=(Name="HOME",Command="exec Skins.txt")
Change "HOME" to a key of your choice, depending on the key you choose it may not work, so test it to see what works.
The key you choose will be your "Skins" key
