By far my favorite mod to date! You've fixed my biggest pet peeve with this game. Thank you <3 "Taking away from his PTSD healing journey" is frankly bullshit and insulting to actual people with PTSD lmao. Twitter, as usual, needs to touch some grass.
Has it worked for you with previous patches, or is the first time you're trying it? And when you say it doesn't work do you mean Astarion is still using the old facial animation, or that your game is crashing/won't load/etc? If you're trying to use it for the first time, it may be that you're installing it in the wrong folder.
The "Public" folder inside of the archive you download goes in here if you purchased the game through Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data
or here if you purchased the game through GOG Galaxy:
It wouldn't be anywhere in the load order because it's a loose file mod, not a pak file. There aren't usually compatibility issues with loose file mods. I suppose it could be that something in a pak file is overwriting it? Are you using any mods that deal with facial animations?
It worked previous patch no issues, so I've used it before. But yes, his smile doesnt change ingame is what I mean when I say it doesn't work. no crashes or any errors. I put it in the Data folder too. This is the address currently
D:\_The Folder of Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Generated\Public\Shared\Assets\Characters\_Anims\Elves\_Male\ELF_M_Head_Astarion_Rig
The other mods I have that does anything to Astarion is changing his body and face texture. But surely that shouldn't mess things up, since it's just texture?
Okay, it's in the wrong folder. I know it's confusing because there's a "Public" folder inside of the "Generated" folder, but that is not where the Public folder for this mod goes. It goes directly into the "Data" folder.
Just drop the Public folder into the Data folder. :)
There are "Public" folders in many different file directories for BG3, so if a loose file mod isn't working it's probably in the wrong folder. I've messed it up before too when installing mods, and had to go back to the mod description page to double check where to place it. Feel free to let me know if you have any more trouble/questions. :)
Ah, I see. That would make sense then. Theres' so many folders with the same name, it sure gets confusing sometimes lol. Thanks a lot for your time and sorry for the inconvenience!
It should as long as they haven't changed the animation file for it, as it's a simple file replacer. But I've no way of testing it at the moment because I don't currently have the space on my PC to install the game.
Can confirm it's working now. :) I tested it on a save with only it and a few other loose file mods installed. Let me know if you have any issues though. :)
I brought my popcorn and looked through all the comments looking for the supposed crazies mentioned but found zero controversy. To be frank I am a bit disappointed.
LMFAOOOOO holy s#*! i'm laughing so hard at the preview. It's wild people give you crap for this, it's amazing. Even when i don't use it, it was so worth the giggle.

Like this:
Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Public\Shared\Assets\Characters\_Anims\Elves\_Male\ELF_M_Head_Astarion_Rig

PS. I downloaded the version A and will be testing them asap, thank you!
