I'd like to thank everyone who utilized this mod during pre patch-7 playthroughs. The amount of support I got was heartwarming :) however, with patch 7, larian fixed the point and click lines for voice 8, so this mod is obsolete for any playthroughs on that patch and beyond.
I'm going to leave the mod up for those who wish to play on older versions, but I expect I'll likely take it down sometime in the future as playing on older versions is definitely a bit of a niche.
Oh my gosh; I just started a durge playthrough with voice 8 and I thought I was going crazy because none of the lines I was used to hearing all the time playing with voice 5 were happening. Now I know I was actually noticing a genuine problem and not just imagining it! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this, and also to reach out to the devs! Hopefully they will finally be able to figure out what's wrong and it will get fixed in a future patch/hotfix!
EDIT: I hate to ask something like this, but if it isn't too much trouble I have a suggestion: removing/overwriting the line "no one back home will ever believe this"? Given durge's....memory situation, this doesn't seem like something they'd even have the mind to say lol. I can't remember if this is vanilla/default durge dialogue regardless of voice, but either way! It's fine if you can't or would rather not, though, obviously!
Super late response I'm so sorry I've been caught up with other games for months now haha but thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking my comment into consideration! ♥
Hey! I just started playing another round of Dark Urge (beaten twice with Dark Urge using Voice 3 and 4 - and hearing the guy scream INTO THE BLOODY FRAY! or I'M COMING FOR YOU! made me smile stupidly lol) and I'm using Voice 8 for this playthrough. Had noticed the same with Voice 4 that the Durge lines seem really non-existent aside from the occasional remark. Nothing as forward and wild as Voice 3. So I was super hyped when I saw this mod. The problem I'm running into is there's no public folder in Data. Or anywhere except saves which I know better than to mess with. I tried dropping the Public folder you supplied, into Data (steamapps/common/BaldursGate3/data) and am hearing even less of the Durge remarks.
So I have a couple questions - 1. Does resisting lessen the appearance of these lines? I am playing a more 'good' version of Durge this run (whereas the other current one is much more chaotic/evil and my goodness he is vocal). And 2. Should there be a Public folder? How does the game read off this file if its not directed at it?
Thanks for making this. I hope I can get it working because man I'd love to hear her scream some of these things. Don't think I can go back to normal playthroughs after playing Durge. This is so fun.
EDIT: It seems it started really picking up after restarting the game a couple times. She's definitely grunting more, making Durge remarks and seems more prone to violence (if you go by her voice lines now) which is AWESOME. So thank you for making this!
Like others have probably asked - If you could do something like this for Voice 4, I'd be super appreciative. You do hear Durge lines, but they seem so infrequent. And I've yet to hear any sort of battle cry for Voice 4 but I'm sure there is one.
question how many times did u restart ur game for it to work? because i triple checked everything putting them deeper than the instructions said to based on the comments, and ive restarted my game multiple times , i was in act 1 after the teifling party installing this mod and i don't hear any of the dark urge voice lines, im playing beta patch 6 to use my mods that aren't patch 7 ready and i keep getting all the regular voice lines for voice 8.
I think maybe 2-3 times? I can't recall honestly. It was slow to pick up, then I started hearing them more and more so maybe the game was just taking a bit to read the files. Ended up moving to Patch 7 which does fix all the Durge voice lines. Even voice 4 which I never heard anything on until Patch 7 came out.
Hiya! I absolutely love this mod, it has been so good. I’ve been using it for the last several months. Tina Barnes does a great job with the Durge lines. At the same time I’ve been getting almost no lines that regular Tav uses. I thought some of those were kind of cute and iconic. Like, “these boots have seen everything,” or “cursed to put my hands on everything.” Is it possible to adjust the sound bank for the voice to include both the Tav and Durge lines, so that they both occur at regular intervals?
MY BIGGEST AND MOST HEARTFELT GRATITUDE TO @SIMOSAS1 FOR ALL THE HELP HE'S PROVIDED My durge voice 4 has been effectively exorcized of the new patch7 maniacal laughters and spoilery lines thanks to his wisdom and kind attention! While still being a durge voice, with its occasional outbursts of creepiness, it does no longer sound deranged and out of control, just the way it was pre-patch 7. This was achieved by introducing blank sound files as replacements for the following: 525773031.wem & 601217730.wem = maniacal laughs 185320340.wem = father, they will die for you 274409118.wem = father, are you watching 134440127.wem = they are dying for me. all of them (this one was not spoilery but the high pitch on the "me" sounded so much like deranged Orin it just got on my nerves). Files can be created as .txt files and just plainly change the extension to .wem They should be placed in your Data\Public\Shared\Assets\Sound folder. The result should be the aforementioned voicelines not playing any more. THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!
i created it straightaway and works create the whole chain if needed x:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Public\Shared\Assets\Sound\xxxxxx.wem
the directions are incorrect. Go further into the directory where you will see the same folder as in the zip called Public. copy and replace that folder in the game's directory.
Seems like some disconnect in directions here. The structure of your download inside your folder in the zip starts with public but your instructions say to just dump the contents of the zip into Data which is why I think some are having issues. It's BG3\Data\Generated where the Public folder us for us to merge. Am I correct? Thanks.
I know it's outside the scope of this mod but maybe if you take requests, could you, maybe, swap Durge's Point-and-Click lines for voice 7 with Tav's. I am tired of hearing "Wretched thing, pull yourself together", "Have I ever been this way before" etc. I think Tav's lines are more interesting.
