    FAQ.
    Q. Game updated...
    A. New updates do not break this loader, the loader itself might get overwritten and you'll need to reinstall. Go to whatever installed native mods page and check for updates.

    A. If you believe it stopped working, check the file size of `bink2w64.dll`, correctly installed Native Mod Loader should be 227 kb, if it's the same size as the `bink2w64_original.dll`, it means game update has reverted the files. You'll need to reinstall this mod to overwrite it again.

    Q. Manual Install:

    •  Extract both bink2w64.dll and bink2w64_original.dll from archive file into your game's bin folder e.g steam path (this may vary):  "D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin"
    •  (Important!) Confirm replacement/overwrite when prompted.

    Q. Vortex Install:

    • Download and Install this mod with Vortex.
    • Click 'Install as Replacer', ignore error and continue.
    • Double click this mod
    • Select 'Engine Injector' in 'Mod Type' dropdown !! Important
    • Click the 'Deploy Mods' button, or 'Deploy' in the notification.

    Q. I don't have `NativeMods` folder!
    A. This is just the loader. If the native mod you are installing doesn't come with a proper folder structure, you can create `NativeMods` folder yourself. It should be at the same level as the loader (`bink2w64.dll` and `bg3.exe`).

    Q. 我没有 `NativeMods` 文件夹!
    A. 此mod仅是插件加载器,如果你正在安装的原生插件没有自带该文件夹,你可以在bin文件夹中新建一个 `NativeMods` 文件夹。此文件夹应该和`bink2w64.dll`及游戏文件`bg3.exe`在同一层。

Installation Steps (for dummies like me, Mod Manager Download):

    1. Download/Install Vortex
    2. Download/Install this mod
    3. Enable and Download as mod not as replacer.
    4. Ignore the error message
    5. Double click on the name of the mod itself (NativeModLoader)
    6. Scroll down to Mod Type and click on it, then select "Engine Injector"
    7. You're done.

If you receive an error regarding bink2w64, you may have mods that require you to select "Engine Injector" (step 5 and 6, but for said mods). When you boot up Baldur's Gate 3 through LariLauncher you may receive a warning message regarding incompatible mods, it should work regardless (unless outdated).

    EDIT: Updated - 11 April 2024, 11:29AM

If you are having trouble with BG3 Script Extender and Native Mod Loader not working together, allegedly there is something going on with the newest BG3SE update v(2024 March 29), as mentioned within their respective Posts pages (as well as other mod's Posts pages). Native Mod Loader still works as intended, with Hotfix #23, Hotfix #24, and Hotfix #25.

    Possible solutions:

    1)
Uninstall BG3SE (2024 March 29), and re-install the previous BG3SE v(2024 March 28); some have claimed that this works as a temporary fix, until their next update.

    Or...

    2)  Try placing/moving BG3SE (2024 March 29)'s 'DWrite.dll' file into the 'NativeMods' folder (...\Baldur's Gate 3\bin\NativeMods) ; some people claim this also works as a temporary fix, until their next update.

    PSA/NEWS:

Be advised, BG3 Script Extender has released a new update:

Script Extender Beta Launcher (2024 April 30)
NOTE: This is a test version; for the latest stable version, check the release below.

If your game is currently working fine, DO NOT update to this new version. This is just a test version. If you use this new update and you break your game, or you get another Native Mod Loader not working problem, then that is on you---you have been warned.

Putting these files into bin causes bg3 not to load, but when i replace them with the orignal bg3 is able to load anyone having similar problems?

I came here to see if anyone had the same issue. It just started happening to me today

EDIT: Moving the DWrite.dll into the native mods folder fixes the issue for me. look at the latest sticky comment from Lisbeth.

Doesn't work for me. Original causes the game to not start, using the 28th March BGSE causes a crash, moving either the new one or the old one to NativeMods causes a crash. Any other solutions for this?

This method is only intended for those who are using the 'BG3SE (2024 March 29)' version.

If using the 'BG3SE (2024 March 28)' version, then the installation is the same as normal/default (no need to move the 'DWrite.dll' file.

If NEITHER of those fixes works for you, then you might:

      • Have another mod causing a conflict.
      • or you have something installed/configured incorrectly.
      • or your mod manager is not configured correctly and is causing errors (Vortex/MO2 are known to occasionally mess us installs via incorrect file paths; as well as mess up uninstalls via not completely removing mod files, leaving left-over files that can cause unforseen errors/conflicts.)
      • Or your game version is not compatible (if you are using an older/outdated game build or version).

Unfortunately this doesn't work in multiplayer anymore when it used to, and causes boot from lobby. Reloaded and reinstalled all mods one by one with friend to find out that NML was the culprit for the boot :(  Singleplayer works just fine though

Do I need Ability to Read in order for this mod to work? I tried taking the test like you suggested to one comment, but it didn't show me a downloads button afterwards. Could you point out an alternative for it or tell me what I did wrong.

When you click the 'Ability to read'  link, you have to do the Tests, then you get the download link after.  :P
"It was just a joke, bro!"  xD

So I will assume yours is as well, hehe. You cheeky monkey!  xD

I keep getting an error window popping up that says this:
    BG3WASD [window name]
    Error occurred at code ->
    [main.cpp:55]
    Callsite ->
    int _cdecl DllMain(struct HINSTANCE__*,unsigned long,void*)
    Detail ->
SDL2.dll version mismatch. This usually means that you must re-install the mod, or at least the SDL2.dll!
Process cannot continue and will now exit.

Like u/sajp16 down below, I'm also trying to use WASD movement and the achievement enabler Native Mod Loader mods for my game as well as two SE mods. I tried moving the DWrite.dll file into the NativeMods folder, but all that allowed me to do was close the error window, where as before the window would stay frozen. I'll try removing the WASD mod, and/or then try using the March 28th version of SE. If anyone else has any ideas on how to fix my issue (maybe you, oh wise u/LisbethSAO) I'd greatly appreciate your input(s)! I'll come back and share my results if I can get it to work or not.

That error coding you posted looks more like you're having a WASD mod issue?

Be advised, that fix of moving the 'DWrite.dll' file into the 'NativeMods' folder, is only meant for IF you are using the most recent BGSE update {BG3SE (2024 March 29)}. If you decide to use the previous version of BG3SE {BG3SE (2024 March 28)}, then there should be no need to move the 'DWrite.dll' file...BG3SE (2024 March 28) should still be working and installed the normal way.

Also, if you're one of the peeps that can't get Achievement Enabler to work/play nice with BG3SE, be aware that BG3SE now comes with its own achievement enabler (most recent few updates now includes one), you just have to actually turn it ON, via 'BG3Mod Manager' I believe(?), I don't know how, since 'Achievement Enabler' mod works fine for me... You may want to ask about it either in the BG3SE mod page, or the BG3ModManager GitHub help pages. Any concerns with the WASD mod, should be directed to their respective mod pages. (I used to use WASD, but I removed it, simply because I am trying to stick to a vanilla game/experience, as much as possible for my first playthrough, and the last time I used WASD, it worked fine for me, and I plan to use it again, on my next playthrough.).  :)

Just wanted to throw in a comment to promote visibility. As of 4/30 there seems to be some sort of issue with running WASD and the native mod loader. Lisbeth's suggestion of moving the DWrite.dll file fixed it for me :D

If you are having trouble with BG3 Script Extender and Native Mod Loader not working together try the Old Version of the Script Extender, available as an optional mod here: Norbyte's Baldur's Gate 3 Script Extender

I need help! I can't delete my NativeMods Folder?? When I try to remove it, it says "The actions can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program." When I try to delete the files in the NativeMods Folder, it says "The action can't be completed because the file is open in bg3.exe." What should I do?

Nevermind.... I went to Task Manager, ended the "bg3.exe" task and then was able to delete it! Hope this helps anyone who runs into the same problem.

Hey, I like this mod. So much so that LillyBird and I included it in Listonomicon. "Listo" is a Wabbajack-powered mod list, that works almost identically to Nexus Collections but uses a community alternative to Vortex to help users download mods from Nexus, put them in the correct order, and prepare their game to play. No mods are repacked, stolen, or distributed directly - users are still directed here, just like with Collections, to download from your Nexus page and ensure you are given the proper download credit.

Due to confusion over what Wabbajack is and what it does, users at the Down By The River community encouraged me to give a courtesy "heads up" to the authors whose work is included in Listonomicon. And to assure them that per Listonomicon's install instructions, users are explicitly told to direct their bug reports issues to us first as mod authors (like you) don't want to deal with being inundated with help requests or bug reports from users with 300+ active mods.

You can read a little more about our project on Github, though the preferred way to access Listonomicon is via the Wabbajack gallery. A list of all included mods are here. A synopsis of the philosophy of Listo and what we are trying to accomplish (and avoid) can be found in our Whitepaper on the first two pages, and is elaborated starting page 17 "List Philosophy."

If you have any concern about your mod being included in Listonomicon (which is still downloaded from this page, and credits you as the author), please send me a message via Nexus's PM mail. I'm not sure how to get notifications if someone has replied to a comment.

How do I find "Install as replacer" or "install as mod" (in Vortex)? Installing, enabling and deploying the mod seems to just work and its automatically got Engine Injector selected. There is no error message. What am I missing? (Edit1: It automatically installs as engine injector.... I'll search settings..), (Edit 2: I can find no way to change how it is installed D: )
