I believe that requires SE and the mod author can't use SE for whatever reason. I plan to look into it because this is way better than the origin characters having the same backgrounds as everyone else, but I'm finally playing through the game for the first time, so if someone else wants to jump in before that, please do.
1. Not being able to use SE for complex stuff (I technically can use it. Basically I have a Mac. I have Windows on a VM which is how I’m able to use mod tools etc and that’s fine but running the game itself gets very sluggish as opposed to running it natively on MacOS so I try to keep it to a minimum even though I have the game installed twice, Windows and Mac versions).
2. Lack of technical know how. I tried very briefly to work with Inspiration Framework but I have an English degree and write for a living, my technical abilities are limited.
Like I said in the mod description if you or anyone else who knows what they’re doing wants to and is able to take this over please do.
I tried to edit BackgroundGoals.lsx but that doesn’t work, you need inspiration framework. However my idea was to copy the preexisting goals for whatever generic backgrounds the characters ended up getting and make them apply to their custom backgrounds while maintaining them as goals for the generic backgrounds too so as not to take them away from potential custom player characters. Furthermore it can’t be a straight replace because several characters ended up with the same generic background.
nice mod, dunno why larian cut the origin uniqueness.
i'll gladly take origin characters being more unique, than the missing xp, and inspiration points don't do much to me to be honest.
even so, let's see if someone with more expertise can "fix" it, although seems a daunting overtaking.
edit: dunno if may be a conflict with a mod i have but, alfira appears as origin in the character creation lol. also the background on the character creation for them don't show up, it shows the default one. can be an issue with the appereance edit enhanced mod?
Try the updated file now, Alfira should not come up in the character creator.
I don't know if the mod conflicts with appearance edit enhanced and unfortunately cannot test compatibility with it, or any other mod that requires script extender, because I am on a Mac.
The mod edits Backgrounds.lsx and Origins.lsx so I guess it might conflict with other mods that do the same.
as for the backgrounds issue, as i suspected, it's incompatible with appearance edit enhanced.
to make it "compatible" so to speak, i had to edit the background UUID for each origin in the appearance edit enhanced origin.lsx for the UUID of the new backgrounds in your mod.
edit: i deleted alfira from the character creator myself. i simply deleted the alfira entries from origin.lsx from your mod.
Not sure why that is happening, Alfa's entry is left as is from the original file. The only thing I had changed (to test something separate out) was the value of the AppearsInCharacterCreator field from 2 (no) to 1 (yes) but I restored it back to 2 so it should be fine. Maybe I uploaded the wrong file. I double checked now and copied the Alfira entry from the vanilla Origins.lsx file so it should stop her from appearing. Uploading now.
This is really cool. It adds extra flavor and personality. All in all, no clue why this was cut as well. I can also confirm that everything is fully localized, so it blends seamlessly in your Spanish, French, Italian version, etc. I'll track this in hopes that the Inspiration Points and the other little bug issue is resolved. Losing that feature altogether is unfortunately a deal-breaker for me. Best of luck. Hopefully, someone will be able to look into it.
