About this mod

Adds the Vestiges of Divergence from Critical Role to the tutorial chest. Almost all implemented RAW with differences explained in main description.

This mod adds a collection of the Vestiges of Divergence legendary items from Critical Role. All items can be found in the tutorial chest on the nautiloid, or through a mod that allows summoning that chest.

The World Loot version also places the items in locations around Act 1, listed at the bottom of the description.
Note: When an item is found on a character with equipment, it is equipped to that enemy and they will be able to use its effects in combat. Some base game equipment is unobtainable on this version due to being replaced on the character that originally had it.

These items have 4 different power levels based on the level of the character using them:
Level 1+: Effectively non-magical items of their respective types.
Level 4+: Gain access to their Dormant State effects.
Level 7+: Gain access to their Awakened State effects.
Levels 10+: Gain access to their Exalted State effects.

You must complete a long rest with the items equipped once reaching the appropriate levels to gain access to the majority of the effects. If the item is unequipped the effects will be lost and require another long rest to reactivate.

Note: These items were designed with the 5e attunement system in mind, which would limit a character to having at most 3 equipped at a time. I did not implement this restriction, but would generally recommend no more than 2-3 items per character for a more balanced experience.

Installation

Installed via BG3 Mod Manager. Only install one version. You should be able to switch between versions without issue as long as they remain in the same position in the load order.

The Honour Patch adjusts some abilities to match Honour Mode changes. Place this below the main mod in your load order.

Changed Vestiges
  • Cabal's Ruin - All charges restored on long rest. Note: The reaction to gain damage resistance when absorbing a spell can be a little weird, due to the way it checks for cast triggers there will always be a reaction pop-up when the spell is cast, but in order to get damage resistance you have to decline that reaction and use the one that specifically says "Enemy is about to damage [Character]"
  • Fenthras - Oracle shot applies the effect of branding smite rather than allowing the wielder to look through the arrow.
  • Mythcarver - Multiattack does not give a level of exhaustion.
  • Spire of Conflux - Reduced total charges since all must be restored on long rest. Replaced Fireball with Shatter in the Dormant state spells, Awakened state now gives Fireball and Ice Storm, Exalted state now gives Conjure Elemental and Chain Lightning.
  • Titanstone Knuckles - Reduced strength benefits. Now gives flat bonuses up to a cap rather than setting strength score to a certain level.
  • Whisper - Added unique throw attack that allows the weapon to be thrown without unequipping it. Automatically "returns" to hand (because it never really leaves).
  • Pyremaul - Reduced bonus fire damage. Did not implement immolation feature since enemies cannot be revived anyway.
  • Agony - Normalized weapon enchant levels to match other Vestiges. Can have more than one target marked at a time but mark only lasts 5 turns.
  • Honour's Last Stand - Replaced the Dormant and Exalted AC bonuses with saving throw bonuses. Shove does not gain additional distance in Exalted state.
  • Jewel of Three Prayers - Replaced the Dormant and Exalted AC bonuses with saving throw bonuses.


Currently unimplemented Vestiges
  • Danoth's Visor - No plans to implement. Abilities are more relevant to D&D than BG3 and most do not have a BG3 equivalent.
  • Grimoire Infinitus - May implement with some State features, but most likely will not give all the spells it gives as a spellbook.
  • Hide of the Feral Guardian - May implement with forms available from BG3, will not make new models to match the forms it gives RAW.
  • Infiltrator's Key - May implement as a ring, likely will not do dagger transformation.
  • Stormgirdle - May implement with some adjustments
  • Verminshroud - May implement without polymorph options, BG3 currently has nothing resembling these forms.
