I'm having a bit of a problem with this mod. The subclass icon doesn't show up when choosing it at level 3 (but the spell ones show up), and sneak attack does no damage at all. When I hover over the combat log it just says Damage Roll: 0 or something like that with no other info. Regular Rogue sneak attack works fine
Load order in BG3 mod manager:
Community Library Both Shivero Library VLads Grimoire 5e spells Valkrana Spellbook Elemental Spells Warrior Class mod VanguardClass mod SoulTaker mod Dark Ranger Tutorial Chest Unlock Level Curve Level Curve 5e patch Combatability framework
ImprovedUI UI Assests Mod Fixer
Every mod in the list, as well as the script extender were updated today/yesterday if there was an update available
Yeah this wont work for me either and I followed all the steps, even tried removing all other mods to see if it was a conflict. Subclass doesnt show up.
Just wanted to say after finaly getting this mod working due to me having the load order wrong, trying the mod out now only level 4 atm but loving this subclass so far much respect to you for making the mod and the person who commisiioned it great mod Thanks
okay so not sure which way it's suppose to load but i put them in order the way they are list on the requered list then put the dark ranger above them using the bg3 mod manager no clue how vortex would work incase your using that hope that helps, if not just move the dark ranger mod about in the list and it should show up at some point that's what i did lol
This is my rule of thumb for mod load order. ALWAYS FIRST in your load order is Community Library, ALWAYS LAST is Compatibility Framework. That's also the recommended load order from the dev of CL/CF.
After Community Library load spells/feats and spell libraries, like 5e, 2e, Valkrana, etc. Next load in VFX libraries, Vlads, Shivero, etc. Then load in class/subclass mods and then load in cosmetic mods, weapon mods, armor sets etc. Last load in anything else that doesn't fit in the previous categories.
This load order has always worked for me from day 1.
One caveat is with ImprovedUI/Assets and Vortex. I have heard from several people that can't see the class icon and all of them are using Vortex. The ones I've asked have said that they cant move IUI around in the load order. I installed Vortex today and IUI Assets WAS locked in the load order, but IUI was not. If you are able to move IUI in your load order it should be down at the bottom right above Compatibility Framework. If you use BG3MM, IUI is automatically installed as an override and is not in the load order, which is how it should be.
There are always a handful of finicky mods that dont seem to work in that order, so if you have one that doesn't seem to work just move it lower in your load order until it does.
So try my load order if nothing else works for you.
I was trying to make this work for Vortex but changing the load order for IUI Assets is impossible. Vortex locks mods because it thinks, these cannot be load ordered by ANY mod manager. Tried disable it, deinstall and reinstall.. but no chance. BUT as I did my research for a solution, I found the Github page for Improve UI and a list with supported mods by IUI Assets. The icons for subclass mods on the list work for me. I have no clue of how modding works... but I was thinking if reaching out to the IUI modder could solve the icon issue?
Frankly, I had no idea that Vortex even did that and it just reinforces my view that Vortex is not good for BG3 modding. I know it's nice to be able to auto update stuff, but I think Vortex runs really badly and the fact that you cant control your load order fully is nonsense.
I do know that you can take away the load order resposibility from Vortex and let BG3MM handle it while continuing to let Vortex handle updating. Which is something a lot of people do. But I understand that some people just want to use a single app for everything.
I can submit subclass icons to the IUI dev to be included in their next release but sometimes that can be 2-3 weeks before a release. IUI made it so mod authors wouldnt have to do that by making IUI look for and use the icons already in the class/subclass modpack. But obviously that wont work if IUI is loaded before the mod with the icon is loaded.
Anyway, I'll submit the icon to IUI when I get a chance.
I'll just highly recommended dropping Vortex, because its janky. I just make sure to track the mods I use, and check Nexus every couple days for updates. Anything you track appears in the notifications when it is updated.
I did some testing this morning and confirmed that this is NOT a Vortex or IUI problem. I removed all my mods and allowed Vortex to take over temporarily. See my clean mod load order.
I then entered the game, created a new character and used the cheat spells to quickly level to 3. And this is what I saw.
So if you have copied the way I have my load order everything should be working for you even with Vortex. If you copy my load order and it's STILL not working the only answer would be that some other mod you have is interfering.
Thanks for showing the load order i got the mod working and i can say it love it although just didn't get the class icon so i will follow your load order and see if that works cheers, Although i do have 300+ mods so also very likely that but meh it works anyway so am happy
thank you for your effort! Seems to be an issue on my end. I switched to BG3 MM instead of Vortex, followed your Mod order (+ the mods I use anyway) and it doesn't work for me. Disabled another Ranger subclass, still not icon. BUT I don't mind though. Class works and is really fun to play. Sorry to bother you!
One mod I know for sure that messes up subclass icons is Plus UI which has not been updated in 4 months and may not ever be updated again. Any new subclass created after the last update of PlusUI will generally not display the icon if you have PlusUI subclass mods installed. If you are using ANY PlusUI stuff that I suggest you remove it.
Hi! I love the overall idea of this subclass. Unforunately, neither the class icon nor the icon of "Valkran's Shadowfell Shot" doesn't show up. Improve UI + Improve UI assets are before the mod in my load order, if that's a useful informattion.
The icon for the Shadowfell Shot and all the other Valkrana spells comes from Valkrana's Spellbook , it is one of the requirements for this mod.
I can't advise you on the class icon missing, if you have the latest ImprovedUI then it should work. However you said it was loaded before the mod, ImprovedUI doesn't normally appear in the load order on BG3MM, it should be in the Overrides section. If you use Vortex I am not sure where it should be.
I don't know why it wouldn't work for you other than a possible load order issue. It works fine for me and others. If you're using Vortex I would try adjusting load order. Maybe put IUI below my mod.

Thanks for your recommended load order, though!

yea, I noticed Vortex is s#*! for modding. Trying out BG3 MM but the game crashes upon loading a save. No idea where the issue ist honestly.
I then entered the game, created a new character and used the cheat spells to quickly level to 3. And this is what I saw.

Yes, I use Vortex. Other mod class icons work fine for me. Dunno where the issue is.
