    Previous Updates:

    Update 1.5

    • Created different versions so you can decide which Paladin Subclass you would like Unholy Smite to be added to or have it added to all Paladin Subclasses (Including Modded Subclasses) - Unholy Smite is added to Level 1 for all Subclasses.
    • Added a Reaction to all spell versions, When hit by a melee attack you will be able to use a Reaction point + Spell Slot. It is automatically toggled to Ask before using, this can be changed in your Reactions tab.
    • Fixed some minor spelling errors.
    Update 1.6

    • Fixed Level 1 Unholy Smite Reaction not doing damage.
    • Removed Reaction Point cost, Reaction now only requires Spell Slot.
    Update 1.65

    • Added Bonus Action use for Level 1 Unholy Smite
    Update 2.0

    • Now uses Script Extender for better compatibility with other mods! (Script Extender is now Required)
    • Removed Ancients and Devotion optional file due to lack of interest
    Update 2.1

    • Added Unholy Smite to the Necromancy School for better synergy with Grim Harvest
    Update 2.2

    • Changed impact vfx to look more impactful
    • Fix - When critically hit now able to use reaction

Hello, is it ok if you can make an additional file that allows this ability to other modded classes?
I actually want to use this smite with the Blackguard mod because its essentially another paladin variant class
Its really fitting thematically as well
    Thanks!

Hey, the mod author of Blackguard has added a patch for my Beyond Division Smite mod so I would probably ask them if that would be possible for this mod also. I'm sure I could do it but it would probably be about a week or so from now since I'm out of state on vacation.

It's alright no rush from me. Appreciate you for responding and allowing it to be used for other modded classes

I'll just wait and see whenever there's gonna be an update again

      Thanks!

To clarify (yes, I am an idiot, mea culpa):  *Don't* run both the main file -and- the Blackguard patch file simultaneously?

Or run both (if I use Blackguard)?

You can only use 1 paladin mod, but you are able to use Blackguard together or separate from the main mod because it's a different class.

      Hmmm...

Did some testing and found that trying to run both in the l/o (the main for my paladins, and the optional for Blackguard [both loaded after their respective class/subclass mods]) causes the game to think a mod is broken and
      a) doesn't load any mods for a new game start, and
      b) gives the ominous "Missing Mods" warning when trying to load a save (says literally all of the mods in my l/o are missing, notwithstanding ensuring they've been installed/loaded/saved in BG3MM & the order exported to game/modsettings.lsx.

S'all right, not critical to me... been running the main Unholy Smite file just fine for a while, just won't have it for Blackguards (I suspect xarara may eventually remedy/patch).

Sorry about that - I reuploaded and its mostly fixed, the only issue I came across is when multiclassing it gives you 2 of the same spell which I'm looking into a possible fix.

Very good mod. but one problem.

I thought it could work like normal smite, but seems like u missing reaction for critical hit.

    Hope this will be update

This doesn't replace divine smite and isn't intended to work like divine smite. Check my Beyond Divine Smite mod - might be what your looking for

I do know what you mean, but in reaction section it is seperated as normal divine smite and unholy version.

Normal one has both reaction for melee attack and critical hit

      Unholy one does not.

And yes, I do know theres beyond smite but I want to keep this only for oathbreaker so dat mod does not help for me :(

So for example, If I check all the reaction for both normal and unholy smites,

When I melee attack w/o crit, then Yes I can choose normal/unholy among my reactions.

But when Critical hit, I can only choose normal one because theres no reaction for critical hit on unholy smite

If your intention is this is not a just necrotic version for normal smite, then like searing smite it should not have Reaction either(and requires bonus action as well). but since you added reaction for the unholy one, I thought this shouldve work like normal smite.

Im sorry if im wrong :D

Sorta confused to what your stating, The reaction is only suppose to occur when you get hit (Similar to shield bash). Not when you hit the target. Are you saying when you get critically hit you can't use the reaction?

This adds a new custom smite - Think of it like Searing Smite but it does necrotic damage and instead of burning it gives them a debuff that give the target disadvantage on there attack rolls, Beyond Divine Smite changes the existing divine smite's damage type

I thought I had already said this, but I don't see any comment proving it. Great mod, thanks for making it. I'm excited to try it out next time I revisit the game.

I was planning to try and do this or something like it myself even though I have never made a mod before just because of how big of a goof I think this is within D&D and BG3. It seems so obvious. Oathbreakers as written are pretty boring. They're still like 85% divine light paladins but like...with some shitty undead abilities.

A necromancy tag would be really cool, currently you don't have that many options for a life-steal build in the game, except if you use Necro Wizard lvl 2 grim harvest. It works great with vampiric touch/disciple of life, but with Unholy Smite classified as Necromancy you could have a proper melee death knight themed life-stealing badass \m/

Eventually I would like to create a homebrew Smites mod. One of the smites would be a vampiric smite. But currently I'm trying to knock out my equipment mods, Also the VFX person I was using before hasn't been active for a while so I wouldn't be able to give off the effect I want.

Hi I have a question. Does this spell expected to be available even for modded subclasses but ONLY under Paladin class? Asking because I think thats why this Unholy Smite does not show up for me. Or I just need to rearrange the load order

Its only available to Paladins (Including all subclasses+modded subclasses), not other classes.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but does this specifically change Divine Smite to Unholy Smite when you become a Oathbreaker?

No, this is an additional new smite added to oathbreaker at level 1. I have another mod that changes Divine Smite into a necrotic "unholy" version also if that interests you.

It should work though I haven't tested. Might take a respec if it doesn't appear initially.

This looks sweet. Would it play nice with the Lightbringer overhaul, or would it require a patch? (Only interested in adding it to Oathbreaker.)

I just tested and they conflict, this is due to lightbringer overhauling the core files of paladin. When I tested with 'Unholy Smite for All' version it re-added Divine Sense since my mod adds Unholy Smite to the core paladin. As for the Oathbreaker version it would re-add Spiteful Suffering since that is where I added Unholy Smite in the oathbreaker core files. If you don't have a problem with those spells being re-added depending on the version you go with then load Unholy Smite after Lightbringer and it will work.

Might be a load order or compatibility issue. If you have a mod that overhauls paladin base class you can place this below it and it should work.

Thank you, I had tried moving it all around in the load order but putting it directly under 5e spells worked :)
Great mod btw I look forward to anything else you make in the future

A small question, there doesn't seem to be Crit interrupt toggles for the Unholy Smite? Is that just integrated in the normal interrupts?

This mod doesn't have Critical interrupt toggles, its simply a reaction 'if you are hit by a melee attack you can react with this unholy smite'. My other mod Beyond Divine Smite has a Unholy Divine Smite that has the critical interrupt that your looking for. Hopefully this answered your question?
