The half-illithid veins are a scar override, meaning that even if you make the texture invisible, your actual selected scars for your character will still not be visible either. This blank texture method also doesn't work for anyone hoping to use the PC version to remove the veins for cross save for console.
However, after some digging to alleviate the first problem, I've compiled a list of commands that can be used to remove overrides like the veins.
For anyone who would like to actually remove the override visually and be able to use scars, use cross save to remove them on console, etc., you can do the following:
1. Install the BG3 Script Extender (make sure you get the 'with console' version) following the instructions on the GitHub page 2. Run the game and load the save you want to remove the veins on (this is a per save change so you will need to do it once you get the veins on any new run, however the change will stick as long as you save after removing the veins) 3. For each character you want to remove the visuals from, select them in-game, and then alt+tab to the console. Hit enter to get a prompt to enter commands 4. Paste the following command: Osi.RemoveCustomMaterialOverride(GetHostCharacter(), "398ca8ae-c3c0-47f5-8e45-d9402e198389") 5. Repeat for each character you want and finally save. You should see the changes in almost realtime 1 by 1.
@PedrinNelas - For some reason, pasting the command added an extra space or something before the actual command. I had to remove it before I actually ran the command in the console. It worked afterward, following these other instructions.
@klementineQt - Thank you SO MUCH! This mod is great, but it still left the eyes black. This totally removes all of the ugly visuals of the Half-Illithid. The command works wonders. It does persist for me, too, within the same save, so that's great. Got my team back! :)
This is my first time trying out a mod, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I found the Data folder in my Steam folder, but I am not sure how to proceed... Do I just need to add those files I downloaded to that folder?
Anyway there is a mod to remove the rotten teeth that come with being a half-illithid as well? So far i have shadowheart as one and when she talks, i can see her rotten teeth, i can't imagine when i turn astarion his pearly whites will look like he brushes his teeth with sugar
Thank you so much for this mod! And for the option to get off only the face veins, I wanna keep them on the body but I wanted to take pretty screenshots of my Druid face and the veins ruined everything. If they were more transparent I would have kept them even, but like that nu uh. I appreciate it's a drag and drop mod too, no need to install mod managers or stuff.
