This is still working for me, though I had to cobble an option together via some of the comments a while ago now.  Here's what I did that is still functional after the patch:

    • Go to the game's install path.  (Not the folder in %localappdata%!)  This path will vary somewhat but since I am using the default Steam install it is here for me:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\

    • Create this folder in that install path: "\Data\Public\Game\GUI\Widgets\" in the game install path.    Some of these won't exist.  Just make new folders anywhere that is the case.

    • Right click this link and save it to the new folder you just made.
Choose the option to "Save Page As" or "Save Link As".  This varies depending on your browser of choice.

    • Save the file as WorldTooltips.xaml in the folder created in Step 1.

Welp that didn't work for me sadly, installed on Image. Got the message as well that there is a mod installed and everything. Am I missing something ? I have ONLY installed this. Also is this ALL HIGHLIGHT or is a mix with the TOGGLE ALT cause ALL I want is the Toggle Alt.

      @n7pankake

Highlight (Almost) All  require Mod Fixer  , you don't have it , so it don't work

, so i think you also need Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Manager by LaughingLeader to instal it more surely

      hope it's help

Yeah, as of writing this (hotfix 23), this method of making/pasting that file in that directory works still.

Any chance to add a reversed one saying to show all the tooltips by default and toggle to off when press alt or use gamepad stick?

For those having trouble with the mod not working, try installing the ToggleTooltips.pak file to: C:\Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods

How much work would it take to make the mod download into place correctly by itself?

I took a rather unconventional approach to the situation: while using WASD Movement and Native Camera Tweaks, I bound the tooltips trigger to the same "Mouse Button X2" that I use for camera control, so whenever I'm moving or just depress that button I see tooltips.

I followed the suggestions on manually placing the WorldTooltips.xaml file and it works.
However not as expected? It toggles on but it will randomly turn off. Sometimes in under 2 seconds, sometimes I get 10 seconds. Not sure.

Now its getting me paranoid if Im in an area without loot or did it turn off again.

Just a tip that doesn't help with the installation of this mod or for those who can't get it to work or it stopped working and have given up,
If you make left click an alternate highlight items button, they will stay highlighted most of the time.
Sometimes you have to press ALT to reset it, then left click again and it will work.

Sadly November's patch #4 totally broke this mod. One of my favorite. Alternative mods don't works flawlessly and need sometimes 2 ALT key press.
So would be nice, if author keep this mod updated, unless was made just for personal use and mod's author don't play game anymore

    Please fix this.
tooltips disappears if i move mouse cursor over the interface (portraits, hotbar, map). They should stay always visible until i press ALT again

its the game not the mod. every mod that "does this" has this "problem". its just a function of the game itself.
