Hello! Thank you for taking an interest in this mod!
I do not have the energy to respond to every comment, but I do read them all and greatly appreciate your support ^_^

    F.A.Q.

    Can you add/remove x?
    Spoiler:
    Show
If you download the optional KCE_Stats file and read this article I made for a previous equipment mod, you can put it in any equipment slot you want! (Although the ring and amulet slots don't show visuals)
I've added examples of making duplicates of the item for the "Cloak" and "Underwear" slots to the file since I figure most people would want it in one of those, so if you want that there there's no need to edit the file.

If installed correctly, the stats file (where you change the slot, buffs, etc.) should be in the following file path:
    steamapps/common/Baldurs Gate 3/Data/Public/KAYClericalEyeglasses/Stats/Generated/Data/KAYClericalEyeglasses_Armor_MSK.txt
The treasure table should be one layer up (so it's in the Generated folder, not Data).
Remember to edit the treasure table if you add or remove any copies of the item.

You can also use the stats file to add/remove any spells/passives/etc.

Can you have x vendor sell it?

If you download the optional KCE_Stats file, you can add it to whatever treasure table (aka the list of things that an npc or loot container can have) you want! I suggest either looking at Majakale's Treasure Table spreadsheet or going to bg3.wiki & looking up the vendor you want to add it to.

For example, Arron's treasure table is DEN_Entrance_Trade, so in the TreasureTable.txt you would add the following:
    new treasuretable "DEN_Entrance_Trade"
    CanMerge 1
    new subtable "-1"
    object category "I_KAY_CLERICAL_EYEGLASSES_MSK",1,0,0,0,0,0,0,0

I'm so sorry to ask but is there any way someone could make a video on how to remove the passives/change which armor slot it goes to? I tried reading the article but my small brain struggled to understand it, I've never really done anything like this before </3

I've been meaning to put together a more cohesive article with screenshots and whatnot because even I have a hard time making sense of the one I wrote a few months ago but unfortunately I have the attention span of a goldfish and haven't gotten around to that.

BUT, I recorded a video & tried not to ramble too much? It's about 25 minutes long though (obviously tutorials are not my strongsuit)
It is in English and I unfortunately don't have the energy to write up subtitles right now, also Youtube is a nuisance so currently I just have it uploaded to Dropbox (link here).
But anyway, I hope this helps?
    2. I wanted to say thank you! The video did actually help me out a lot in figuring out what I was initially doing wrong.

    Edited Jan. 30th, 2025

Figured I'd give y'all an update since I've been working on the toolkit version for the past few days

Things the next version is definitely going to have:
    Spoiler:
    Show

    • Eye VFX will shine through the lenses (so I am removing the "No Lens" versions)
    • A version of the Clerical Eyeglasses with the retainer from the Reading Glasses
    • A version of the Reading Glasses without the retainer
    • Versions of each with a new fancy chain retainer (because I finally took a moment to learn how to make my own chains in Blender)
    • Cloak/Glove/Underwear slot versions of everything
    • Items are now in a container that grants you a spell which temporarily resummons the container
    • Stats are adjusted:
    • - Clerical Eyeglasses will no longer have "Scrutinizing Gaze" (I had originally added it bc I just thought it would be cool but at this point I've realized that there's no good reason why Ione's glasses would be enchanted like that)
    • - Clerical Eyeglasses will only give +1 to Perception instead of +2
    • - Reading Glasses will still have "Insightful Gaze" (I maintain that it makes sense for Nephilius) however it's now toggleable (it defaults to off when you equip the glasses, so you have to toggle the passive on if you want it on).
    • - Reading Glasses still give you advantage on Insight checks though

I will probably also add the container to the main vendors, I just keep forgetting to actually do that.

Things I am still debating doing:
    Spoiler:
    Show

    • Adding the eyeglasses to CC slots (probably horn/beard/tail or maybe just beard/tail; piercing bones are weird + I don't like clicking through a long piercing list so no piercing slot)
    • Re: CC slots: colorable or set colors? (The chain on the new retainer relies on a shader supporting transpency so I'm leaning toward set color options)
    • Separate add-on with all the lens color/pattern options as separate items (will be tedious to make but maybe we'll get lucky & I'll get the urge to knock it all out in a weekend or something)

Even though we *can* make custom shaders with the toolkit (so I could theoretically make a glass shader that supports dyes), mods that have shader files can't be supported on consoles & I would bet actual money that one of the first comments when I upload to Mod.io will be asking about console support (and I mean, half the point of remaking it through the toolkit is so that console players can use the mod)
In other words, yes I intend for this to be available for consoles.
As long as I don't make custom shaders, it should pass Larian's testing once I submit it.

I don't really have an estimate on when I'll release the next version, although now that Patch 8 testing has started it will probably be after that officially drops (hopefully on the same day, assuming I finish up the mod beforehand).

I love this mod but I've been waiting to install it until there are camp versions (I know I could do it myself but I'm scared to break something!), so I just wanted to check on the new version you posted about! These are my favorite glasses anyone has made for BG3, I love them 😊

I can't figure out how to dye the frames (not the lenses, the frames). Combining the glasses with a dye doesn't seem to have any effect.
  6. Has there been any updates on the release of the next version of this mod?

Also There is a floating eye above the character is that apart of the Scrutinizing Eye Passive?

Not sure exactly when the next update will be done but it will have a new chain retainer and *probably* both octagonal and hexagonal metal frames. It's kinda been on the back burner while I worked on my hair extensions mod update (but that's been posted today so I'll get back to this one soon).
I'm hoping that with Volno's Lazy Tailor it'll be a lot easier/faster to refit this stuff for each body type, but I only have them weighted to one bone so I might still have to do it all manually & I am not looking forward to that,,,,

And yeah, I don't think I got around to figuring out how to remove that bit so I use Remove See Invisibility VFX.

I had a question, hoping someone can help me figure this out.

I'm trying to spawn two sets of the same glasses, one to wear as armor, and another to use in camp (using the underwear slot).
However, no matter what I try, only the armor/headslot one shows up in the game, and the other one doesn't seem to register at all.

Anyone know what I might be missing?

Edit: I was able to figure out a solution ^^

    Hello!

I am so sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have been at this for like two hours and have no idea what I'm doing!

I have followed all instructions for installing this mod manually and am trying to change the spawn location of the item. I am already well past the tutorial at this point in the Emerald Grove, and am trying to have Dammon sell the clerical glasses. No matter what I do, they never seem to be sold in his shop! I've even tried the old "level up save scum and refresh the merchant inventory" trick, but with no luck. Also tried spawning the glasses in a different chest location, but again- no such luck. Do you have any info or insight into how to get this all working?

Edit: If you have installed the mod manually like me (I didn't want any external mod manager to conflict with the native mod support) and are already well past the tutorial, try using the "Summon Tutorial Chest" mod available through the game! I tried it as a shot in the dark and wouldn't you know it, all the glasses were there!

So I put it into my game, following instructions. The glasses are in my tutorial chest, I've taken them out and put them into my camp chest. Sent some to a character, but they won't show up on their model. Any idea why?

They should show up for every race & body type, but just in case, what is the race/body type of the character in question?
And do you have helmets turned off or camp clothes turned on?

I've wanted glasses for my character and now I see this mod. Thank you.
My only question is I'm way beyond the tutorial. Ccan I pick these up at camp or anywhere else in the game?

I love this mod so much and I was wondering if there were any plans to add a cosmetic version for the underwear slot? I'd love to have them equipped in camp clothes as well as armor without having to sacrifice piercings.
EDIT: I should really read the fine print lol. Thank you for including the stats file and the tutorial! It was really helpful.

I tried my best to follow things but having issues.

So I downloaded the main file, installed that with the BG3 mod installer. I cannot find the KAYClericalEyeglasses_Armor_MSK.txt file at all. I don't have a folder for it, the txt file is not in a my baldur's gate 3 file folder under generated in that location....

I really want these to show up in cutscenes. Any help would be awesome and my apologies if this was covered already

Ur video is a savior! Idk if you can add the link to your video to the description cause that literally saved me. Thank you for educating me on this. I had no idea! So much fun! If you ever decide to do tut vids for mods, i would be there like a bear. i don't think you overexplain or like "ramble" at all! All of that information was awesome!!

Bless you for this mod. Ive been wanting glasses since the game came out and was sad no one had them as a equipment *only piercings which was a pain cause i want my piercings too lol*

      Thank you for this mod!!
