I think this mod is working wonky in patch 5. My half-elf drow with 8 strength has a max carry weight of 80, which is weird because without the mod it should be 120 but with the mod it should be 40. Most companions (by memory) feel like they can carry slightly more than before but not entirely vanilla.
Edit: Ignore this. It was confusing because I had the game in pounds while the formulas were calculated in kg.
I just want to say I wasn't expecting a "weight realism" mod in a magic world :') this is D&D my friend you can just imagine you've enchanted your backpack with a weight reduction spell or some shiet. This is just going to make you go back & forth to your camp for more unnecessary inventory management rather than actually play the game.
Well, but then it is definitely the fault of the gamer itself because he really want to loot anything. I would also not calling looting anything is playing the game.
A DnD game shouldn't be made in a way that makes it easy to loot to many stuff inclusive crap because even crap give you 1 gold so collection 100 crap give you 100 gold.
And after I'm now some more days into the game I must say this looting anything problem ruins slowly my experience with the game. I have way too much healing pots, also resurrection scrolls and other stuff. I also have no gold problem at all. And I'm not even that far into the game, I simply play slowly and because of that I have plenty of time to loot anything.
I have seen some DnD stuff on Youtube and when something there was always clear: you can't loot anything, you need to decide what you carry with you and what you want to loot. And compared to DnD, it was not even 1/10 of that.
DnD may be a fantasy world, but this world follows some clear logic that should improve the experience and immersion of the players so he can have a meaningful deep adventure. A looting and inventory system that gives you the possibility to loot the world empty is completely against the idea of DnD and really annoys me and ruins the game for me as well. Especially in CoOp, where with a friend BG3 turned more into "who is faster to loot the area empty" competition.
This mod is not only a improvement, it is for me a part of a necessary gameplay fix, that also need other fixes like removing the "collect all" button on world chests and best removing the "send to storage" selection as well, because I think it is not possible to change its mechanic that way that for example "send to storage" cost you gold per send item or limiting the "send to storage" in a other way for example you can use it only 5 times and then you need a short rest. No clue if such a mod would be possible, I would prefer limiting it. But as always cheat mods are more important to ruin the DnD experience even more.
Since you so bluntly stated "this is D&D my friend": in D&D a commoner has a carrying capacity of 60kg; that's his STR score times 15. This does not impose "more unnecessary inventory management" on him, because with his 8 WIS he's smart enough not to pick up every pebble he sees lying before his feet.
As to which spell would accomplish such a feat, the only one I can think of is Enlarge/Reduce. A Bag of Holding simply puts your junk in another dimension. Thus "the bag can hold up to 500 pounds [and] weighs 15 pounds, regardless of its contents."
Move along, then? If you aren't interested then what motivated you to click on the page, open the Posts tab and leave a message? Good grief, I'll never understand why some people feel like their unsolicited and unnecessary opinions somehow hold value to total strangers on the internet.
I hope you enjoy whatever carry weight mod you were actually looking for.
disky00 ironic how you want others to move along because you don't like them venting their opinion, yet here you are, venting your opinion nobody asked for either. Maybe take a step back and consider the saying "healer, heal thyself". Good day.
I'm also curious if that is possible. I have seen some UI mods but I'm not sure there was any under it that add/removed entries from the right click menu. But it seems not impossible, I also want to remove that or if it would be possible to restrict it for example that you can only use it 1-5 times before you need a short rest or you need to pay gold to send an item to storage (like you would pay a deliver service) or even make it a magic scroll/spell that need magic slots would be an idea. Anything that would limit the usage.
I have installed this mod manually along with Mod Fixer and Script Extender but I don't see any change to the carry weight of my characters. I didn't see any reference to the modsettings.lsx file. Do I need to enter the Name and UUID for this mod? If so, what is the Name and UUID for this mod? Thanks!
Here are the two blocks you need in your modsettings.lsk file. I assume you already know where these go. <node id="Module"> <attribute id="UUID" value="8ed03eae-77ea-4bc4-b850-385a4f11ed47" type="FixedString" /> </node>
thanking, used BagsBagsBags modsettings.lsx editing guide, Greater Restore mod did not work, gave main-menu cannot load error . . .copy-pasting your post's format for the node block (and replacing UUID, name, etc as appropriate) and no issues launching (assuming the mod works as it's crying about disabled achievements). Thanks-
Noticed that the weight capacity display only seems to work for KB & M. When playing with a gamepad, weight capacity for the selected character shows the same for all party members in inventory screen.
so, in inventory, if selected character can carry 120 kg, it will display 120 kg capacity for all party members. Doesn’t effect their encumberance, just displays incorrectly.
Hey, I have made a Difficulty Mods Compendium and have integrated your mod inside it.
Every credit is due with direct links to the original mod and author pages, no payment nor nothing is permitted; it's basically just as the name suggests, a library for small mods with great affinity.
I haven't released it yet, I'm waiting for every mod's author permission, please let me know if I have your approval.
is this safe to uninstall mid playthrough? I want to take it for a spin and see how i like it, but i'm afraid of breaking my save in the off chance i don't like the change
Perfectly safe, worst case scenario you'll have an encumbered status and will have to refresh it by filling you up until you reach the heavily encumbered one and then empty your pockets.
If you'd really want to do this right, you shouldn't be able to bring along multiple armor and weapon sets without even wearing a backpack, let alone having a magical bag of holding. This is one of the major issues I have with games is that you can loot everything and there's no rational, visual representation for where you are storing it. Lowering the amount of weight you can carry by increasing item weight isn't going to bring the realism. What would bring it is a mod that gives you magical bags or backpacks of holding, preferably from character creation screen that allows you to choose starting weaponry, armor, color and from multiple backpack designs. Weapon sheathes, quivers, backpacks, should all be visible on a character. That's what you'd truly want for actual, believable emersion. But like Deprav said below, just increasing item weight is just going to needless result in you having to go back and forth, all while not addressing the actual "problem" like I just described.
Could you update the Item Weight description alongside your changes? It reads, the weight of carried items (excluding equipped items) counts towards your carrying capacity.
