i am so very excited for this! i havent started playing it yet but it was just so nice to see tiefling and not see baldurian in tav's tags!
i have a question, and it might be a silly one, but does this mod work for multiplayer? like if i want to have my character designated as a tiefling but the person playing this doesn't want it such. is it a way to have it like this? or do i have to go back with pretending? [any answer is fine, of course. i just wanted to know ahead of time. thank you for this!]
I haven't tested in multiplayer as I don't play with anyone else, I'm not sure whether you're allowed to have mismatched mod lists or not. But if you are allowed to, you should be able to just have it installed for your character and theoretically won't affect anyone else. You could also try making your character with the mod installed, then removing the mod as it is safe to remove mid-playthrough. Tags are baked into the save so once the Baldurian tag is gone you don't need the mod anymore. (Except for a future character ofc haha)
If you do test it let me know as I'm curious how it works
i don't think you can [though i may be very wrong]. you'll have to start the game and check your character's character sheet, then check under the detailed view tab. it worked for me and i found it on the bottom of that page with the other tags.
can the mod affect Whispers of the Divine - Aasimar Race? or you can make a compatible patch? All I did before was using Background Not Baldurian - Outlanders
If you make an Aasimar with the Outlander background then the Outlander mod will affect them, yes. Should work for any modded races and subraces so long as they have the correct tags.
I won't be making a mod that removes the Baldurian tag from the Aasimar race, if you want that you should request it from the mod author. :)
Hello, I am trying out the experimental file that uses the AVATAR tag. I tried to manually install it by just copying the .pak file into the mods folder, but it doesn't seem to do anything, the Baldurian tag still shows up in my character sheets for existing saves and new games. How are you installing the mod? Do I need to use Vortex or BG3 Mod Manager? Tia.
Note: I don't have Tag Framework or anything else installed, do I need those? When I click on the URL for those mods it shows that they were hidden by their owners very recently.
You do need the mods marked as dependencies, especially Tag Framework as this mod won't do anything without it. They have been hidden temporarily because of some sort of strike some modders are taking part in. Also it wouldn't affect existing saves anyway as tags are baked into your save, so it can only work on new games. :(
You can still get the mods from Github so you can download them from here:
I don't know if it would be possible to just have ALL the races not be baldurain? Would be awesome to pick and choose any of them :) This mod is awesome regardless!!!!
Okay I added one, this is pretty experimental though as I didn't try it with EVERY race lol. It removes the Baldurian tag from any character tagged with AVATAR, which is a hidden tag applied to the non-origin player. It should affect all playable characters EXCEPT Origins as they're tagged differently. Kinda works out anyway as wouldn't make much sense for Astarion to not be from Baldur's Gate for example lol.
You'll have to let me know if you play with it and encounter anything weird. Should be okay, but I only tested a few races.
I love this so much, I was a bit annoyed with Baldurian npcs treating my characters with their own backgrounds like someone from their city and now I don't even have to look at the tag... yay immersion. Also if you accept requests for tags other than Baldurian, could you make Underdark drow half-elf (from what I know they have neither of the tags)? Thank you so much either way!
Would you be able to make one that lets you give the Baldurian tag to races that otherwise don't have it (preferably without removing the Underdark tag, but I can understand if that would be harder or impossible)? I wish I could apply it to my drow, but sadly base game doesn't let me.
That should be possible, I'll have a look! I think Baldurian is separate from Underdark (as in not mutually exclusive if you get me? So theoretically should be doable. I'll let you know anyway lol)
It did indeed work! Uploading now. Made separate patches for both Seldarine and Lolth-Sworn so you can choose which ones you want. Should be safe to remove after character creation as tags are baked into your save.
