Late response, but if anyone else also wants these in the facial hair slots (only do this for personal use, don't publish such an edit without the original mod author's permission! I'm also not an expert at this but it worked for me, so don't ask me for troubleshooting lol):
Unpack the the .pak file with the BG3 Mod Multitool by dragging it into the pretty blue box. Then go to C:\Mod Multitool\UnpackedMods\BasicHair\Public\BasicHair\CharacterCreation and open the CharacterCreationAppearanceVisuals.lsx file (ideally with Notepad++). Press CTRL+F and it should open a "Find" window. In it, click on the "Replace" tab. Type "Hair" into the "Find What" slot, and "Beard" into the "Replace with" slot, and click on "Replace All" on the right side. This replaces the SlotName, essentially telling the game that you want these hair meshes in the facial hair slot.
Save, and go back into the UnpackedMods folder. Drag the whole "BasicHair" folder into the BG3 Mod Multitool pretty blue box and it'll create a zip file for you containing a new .pak file (unless you have the checkmark enabled that automatically moves new .pak files into the Mod folder). Install as you would any other mod, and you're done.
From my point of view this whole thingy is just some edits for the vanilla assets, so I don't really care what people do with this. Edit, re-upload, put it in the official BG3 mod thingy etc..
Only thing that I don't like is this low effort paywall BS that happens in Skyrim so often.
Is there any chance to get it on consoles? We have a hair extansion mod but unfortunatley not a mod like this with basic hair that would fit so good. This would be so great!
Thank you so much for making this! I've run into a bit of a snag, though. I'm not sure if this is just an issue for body type 3, but the basic hairs don't seem to have any shine to them compared with the styles they were based on.
I just had a look at this on the good monitor and you are definitely correct. Just seems like the issue is just more visible on that body type due to the different position or whatever, but it definitely exists everywhere else too.
I think this might be an issue with the LOD of the new models:
Materials are unchanged, so we should expect the same lighting for the same geometry.
The parts I was focusing on are unchanged, but ingame the geometry looks a bit different. So I think that both LODs are always visible at the same time for some reason.
I'll do some experiments after work and see if something can be done about this :)
Yup, 1.0.2 basically just fixed those jutted edges & weird quads. I just uploaded a new one that should fix the shading. Turns out there's another asset property that controls some kind of LUT for the hair.
So here's to hoping that I matched all the new variants with the values from their original counterpart :)
