About this mod

Reshade shader toggle mod to remove environmental and character outlines - now updated to include other minor subjective annoyances

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Simple mod to hide the outlines/highlights around interactable items in the environment and other party members and NPCs. Also works to remove party and enemy highlights in combat.

This only works on DX11, the addon does not work with Vulkan.

v1.2 Update

I added a separate file which hides the following:

  • Environmental and character highlights/outlines (as per v1.0)
  • Ghost that previews an attack when hovering over an enemy in combat
  • Ghost that stands above your character when in stealth in combat
  • Orange glowing texture visible on traps (I only seen this once on a sarcophagus in the first dungeon, not sure how common this is)

v1.2 is an update of v1.1 and adds selection circles back in as  hiding them hid too many other effects and textures.

I intend to add to this as I progress in the game and get annoyed at other garish effects. Example: I just seen the Armor of Faith effect on your character and that has to go, likely along with any other unnecessary buff effects.

Installation and usage

  • Download and install Reshade (the version with full add-on support)
  • Download and install the Reshade Shader Toggler Add-On
  • Extract the mod file to your game folder where the .exe files are
  • Start the game
  • In game press Home to bring up the Reshade GUI, click to skip tutorial, press home again to close the GUI
  • Press Num Pad Decimal to activate the mod
  • Enjoy!

Troubleshooting

Some users have reported that the toggle was mapped to a different key than Num Pad Decimal (may be a keyboard model or region issue). If the mod isn't working open the Reshade GUI, navigate to the Addon tab and click to expand the Shader Toggler section and it should tell you the key used to toggle in brackets after the bg3 HUD name. You can also change toggle key here by pressing edit, clicking into the Key Shortcut box and then pressing the key you want to use.
