First, I absolutely LOVE this mod of yours, it's massively helpful in my load order.
I don't quite know how hard it is to create a couple new sections, otherwise I'd just do it myself lol, but I'd love to see ones that refer back to your Load Order suggestion, i.e. the Load These First, Load These Second, and so on. I know for me that would be a big help in further organizing load orders.
Beginner level question but is it possible to add with each divider what each segment does/refers to too? example (easiest one I could think of)
Spells category for BG3MM - Additional One-Off Spells (I am not sure if this includes enhancements? )
Tweaks category for BG3MM - Enhancements/changes to spells. (Not sure if this is spells alone, or changes to other categories)
Some are straight forward, others not so much (Utilities vs User Interface - I've seen them be used interchangeably)- hoping to find a decent link to add these descriptors. got over 600+ mods only 25 of them appear on the list - luckily, they will help me with figuring out what goes with em - i have a few loads that are good but arnt as clean as this format here.
If anyone has any references, I am all eyes. Thank you kindly.
Hay great job would you be able to post a complete load order for your tabs, the one you have is not complete and outdated. Thank you for sharing your mod...
Honestly I don't understand load orders so I just put them in the order that I download them in. So far there have been no issues. One of these days I think I will have issues. I am one of those technology stupid people and will admit it. I might download this to see if helps me some. I mostly download races and cosmetic stuff along with jewelry and subclasses.
I don't necessarily have any problems with my own load order but its actually nice that this mod grouped & sorted it out nicely (feels a LOT better for my eyes). The sorting will definitely help out along the line when adding new mods.
really wishing for a built-in grouping feature for BG3MM so we dont have to resort to "fake" paks..
Critique: Um... As much as I appreciate you providing your load over, with it's +1000 mods, it doesn't include any of the 70+ mods I consider important to my core gameplay and characters, in the list of near 900+ mods in my load order. Now, those mods are shunted to the "Inactive" side of BG3MM, have no idea where they should go, according to how you the load order is now set up. Some of those mods are recent additions to the Nexus. Now, I'm going to have spend the next several days carefully figuring out where they now go for best result and least bugs.
Recommendation: I would recommend placing a disclaimer in the 'Description' section that the 'Baseline Load Order' file is the mod author's personal load order file, does not support all mods, including more recent ones being uploaded to the Nexus, and those not listed on the Nexus, and will destroy preexisting load order if installed.
I did the same thing, but I'd saved my own load order to a file, so was able to instantly switch back to it. It's good practice with BG3MM to not only save your load order as you go using the save button, but also to to occasionally hit "file (top left) -> save order as" and save your own order to a named file as you go, that way you can avoid accidents like the one you had.
That functionality is somewhat similar to being able to have "profiles" in MO2, it means you can switch (as I do) between e.g. a "Vanilla with QOL only" load order and a fully stacked fully modded load order at will (taking into account overrides ofc - i.e. bronze-coloured mods will always be in effect even if they're in the right-hand pane, so you have to temporarily remove them manually from the mods folder in the "AppData/Local/Larian ... mods" folder and restart BG3MM if you don't want them active in a load order - little bit fiddly but not that difficult to keep track of).
The .json provided in this mod is a rough guide as to the order of the dummy separator .paks, so to adapt it, all you need to do is open up the .json and note the order of the dummy .pak separators as the author has them, arrange the separators in the left pane of your BG3MM in that order, and then slot in your own mods from your own load order under those separators, according to which of the separator categories they fit.
@gurugeorge you could also just import my load order with just the dummy packs installed no other mods and get that same setup. Thanks for the breakdown. Now that you mentioned it, i will upload a load order with just the categories and an image showing their order. I tweaked them so much i could probably just type it out off the top of my head, haha.
I think the problem is that if one just installs your .json into BG3MM while having one's own order in the left hand pane, if one has some mods the same as yours, and some mods that are different from yours, installing the .json flings the mods one already has willy-nilly into left (activated) and right (deactivated) panes.
IOW, while the mods one has that you also have are slotted into the correct places in the left hand pane, which is good, the mods one has that aren't in your list are deactivated and shoved to the right-hand pane, which (as the OP found) can be potentially confusing if one hasn't modded for a while, and/or if one isn't keeping an eye on one's mods and regularly updating like a hawk, so that one knows one's own list fairly well (and especially if one hasn't saved one's own order to a file, and so can revert! ;) ).
In one sense that isn't a problem because then one could just transfer the deactivated mods from the right-hand pane back to the left-hand activated pane under their respective categories, but in a way it's preferable to retain one's own order on the left and just add the separators from right to left "manually," so that one is sort of comparing and contrasting as one goes (i.e. thinking about how one's own load order that one spontaneously made is different from yours, which is just interesting in itself), that's why I ended up using the "manual" method of just looking at the order in the .json and adding the separators one by one.
For your load order, I'm guessing you based it on the kind of load order one would have in DOS2, right? It's reminiscent of something like this. I gather that load order in BG3 isn't quite so touchy as it was with DOS2 - even though it's basically their same in-house engine, upgraded for BG3 - but it's still nice to have a logical order anyway, so thanks for doing it and making it available. Especially, it means one has logical places for everything to slot into going forward (especially as one drifts away from "vanilla+" to a more heavily-modded setup).
To Help Clarify This Whole Matter: I am a beta tester, debugger, glitch finder, and general 'tester' of games and mods whom types more cohesively than they speak. I often report back on the things I find something I consider 'off,' and offer a solution, as is often asked of me. My reports/critiques (not criticism, that's something entirely different) are written in a way to be clinical, direct, rational, logical, as informative as I can make them, emotionless, and with as few personal bias as possible.
As with other mods, I found something I believed was a problem: A lack of forewarning that the Load Order did not, and cannot support all mods for BG3. I described the problem that occurred when I installed the mod, and gave what I considered a logical solution that would help avoid future drama from those that downloaded the Load Order, whom thought it would solve having to continue grooming theirs., only come to the Post Section and complain about it.
Why people continue to overreacting (yes, I am referring to you @mschi3ffmanagdx) to these reports is beyond me.
You assuming it covered every mod on nexus for BG3 is the only overreaction. You did not read correctly, and with the experience you have, this should not have even been an issue for you.
I don't really think anyone dragging you is overreacting. This is the most presumptuous self-important comment I've read in a long time. You don't actually get to force someone to interpret unasked for criticism in the way you would like for them to interpret it, and if you -are- a beta tester, I find it odd that you would use such an abrasive tone when reporting your findings. Impartiality is important in any kind of testing, and you fell a little flat on that front.
Hey there! This seems like a great mod but I'm having some trouble, although I'm sure that it's just on me being new to modding.
For the BG3MM, is it possible for us to use this in our inactive section (assuming we don't use all of our mods at once)?
Each time I start manually organizing them, save, and refresh, it reverts back to alphabetical order, is there a way to make a custom order using these instead?
Thank you for responding so quickly; I really appreciate it!
I'm so sorry that I'm still struggling with this; I'm sure this is just a me thing since so many other people have been able to figure it out. I don't necessarily need the tabs on the left/active side of the mod manager due to only playing with 30 mods at a time. However, I could benefit from them on the right/inactive side, where I have 100.
While I have no problem organizing the left side without it reverting to alphabetical, the right side is the one that's struggling. Do you know if it's possible for me to do this on the right?
Thank you so much for making this. I have been using Mods for months and could never find an actual list of mods orders that I understood. I finally found this and its a life saver! Seriously, its helped me out so much!
