I created this mod for Baldur's Gate 3 and posted it on Nexus prior to official mod support. I have no desire to rework it in the new format being used by the official mod manager, but I have received a number of requests to do so, especially from console users.
As such, I am posting my mods on github for any enterprising modder to fork and take over in order to make the conversion and handle the publication of them as you wish. They belong to the world now.
very cute mod works as described (patch 7) but can u do something about how if you dismiss her summon her body implodes and leaves behind a giant puddle of blood? like can you give her the unsummon / death animation of the familiars where they just teleport into another dimension instead? if u dont do requests thats ok but maybe if it gets updated to patch 8 when that is out if it can be a consideration? thanks!
Could you make it so that the summoned Tara can enter small and tiny crevices? It seems wrong that she cannot be used to explore areas that normal summoned cats can.
A version where Tara's Spellbook is not given to venders but just appears in tutorial chest, or Gale's inventory, or is given along with the Ring of Evasion, or where the spellbook doesn't exist but summoning Tara is just a Gale-specific spell would be nice. (I have dozens of the spellbook already in my current playthrough, as I've been robbing venders of everything they have after each levelup and long rest.)
I thought it was weird that Tara wasn't able to upcast or use higher level spells for things like Mage Armor once she ran out of 1st Level slots so I did some digging in the mod. You likely have your own reasoning for why you made all of the spells you gave her specific "Tara" versions, but I commented nearly all of them out and modified the `UnlockSpell` sections to remove the appended "_Tara" parts of the spell names and they all work fine now with proper upcasting.
Just thought I would throw that out there and I'm sorry if this is totally out of line.
If I remember correctly, I had to overload the spells to change the animations which broke upcasting and I didn’t think it was worth the trouble fixing that. I changed the animations because some of them were lagging really badly, I assume because the model wasn’t able to do the movements. Given that the spell list has changed some of the worst offenders (like chromatic orb) probably aren’t around any more so it may be worth re-evaluating.
Oh yeah, just to come back around to this. I removed the "_Tara" portion from the spells, removed the extra MageArmor blocks and just included the name, spell data, spell type, "using" portion and the spell animation and everything works just fine and you can upcast.
So it makes more sense because even after reading that I confused myself, this is what Fog Cloud and Mage Armor look like and they work just fine.

Def a serious necro (sorry!) but, if acceptable by jonhinkerton, would you be able to share the full mod version of this, JustKyrios? I don't trust myself to mess around that much in the files, but I'm playing with a lot of "make it hard!" mods (tactician+, combat extender, Valkrana's skeletons, etc.) and I'm giving everyone some "canon" pets (Karlach gets Crag, Gale will get Tara, etc.) so it would be super helpful against Goblins with 100+hp :3
