Hello there, returning player here, didn't play since December, I had some mods installed and it seems they're not causing problem, except this one, I redownloaded the one I had back in December ("Patch 6 Legacy - X10 Increase" located in "Old Files" since it says "downloaded xx/23") but the game keeps telling me that the mod isn't active and can't launch the save :/ Has anyone the solution? I don't want to try testing with EVERY release yet ^^" Thanks in advance
Nope, I redownloaded the game completely and added my old saves to it (I also tested the X100 increase "Version for Patch 7 with new UUID" but obviously didn't work since it wasn't the version I installed at the time)
Mod Manager looks like this: https://www.zupimages.net/up/24/37/epx8.png
Warning looks like this: https://www.zupimages.net/up/24/37/l7x4.png
Second warning looks like this: https://www.zupimages.net/up/24/37/4g01.png It says : Following mods were active during last game save but are currently not active: "increased 9K". Game may become instable, do you wish to continue
@guigeek277 looks like your better containers mod is outdated. https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/1416?tab=files overrides no longer exist. maybe that is causing issues for you. the warnings that the in-game mod manager gives...are sometimes misleading in my experience. the warnings themselves don't mean much of anything unless the game doesn't load or the mod doesn't work. when you say it causes problems, is it just in the mod manager or are you unable to load a save or are you able to load a save, but in game your carry weight hasn't changed?
Oh thanks, I'll try that. I'm indeed unable to load any save
Edit: okay unfortunately it didn't change anything :'(
Edit 2: After a few tries in game, it narrows the list to these: https://www.zupimages.net/up/24/37/igz2.png but it's still saying that it comes from "increased 9000" stuff :'(
Maybe the problem comes from here: https://www.zupimages.net/up/24/37/cdrl.png I never had the 2 last from the list but it worked back in 2023 :( Don't know if it's still relevant or if it's outdated
Edit : tried to dl the latest version of all the mods, it was a baaaad idea: https://www.zupimages.net/up/24/37/iupk.png Now there are many problems it seems. Can narrow them to this: https://www.zupimages.net/up/24/37/pgzn.png still not working anyway (warning now includes campshoesofadvantages and underwearofabilityscores, not only carry weight increased 9000). Mod Manager now looks like this: https://www.zupimages.net/up/24/37/hedd.png
No matter what I try, the error is always related to this mod, I really can't fix it :/ Is it possible to edit the save manually and delete any mention of mods? And also (to make it work) edit the number of companions with me (no limit comp mod), delete the items in my inventory (weight and space mods) and stuff like that?
https://wiki.bg3.community/Tutorials/Mod-Use/How-to-remove-mods try following these steps. at the very least, it can help return the game folder back to vanilla so the game can stop crashing. This may prevent you from loading old saves though since it seems like you may have used mods that generated items in your inventory.
The other use for this guide would be to possibly find leftover mods that might be causing issues but don't show up in mod manager. I would advise you to look at the places mentioned in the guide to check for that.
those errors mean nothing. it doesn't actually point to a problem. I get those every time I load a game (the mods that show up are just based on load order). the warning means nothing.
Yeah, that was the point. The game never crashed, it works perfectly, I can launch a new game but I don't want to, I just need my old saves to work lol
Oh thanks, I'll try that. I'm indeed unable to load any save
ok so you can start a new game, but you can't load an old save...you think the issue is this mod.
I figured out your problem. https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/628?tab=description this mod has a weird version of mod fixer in it. that is what is causing the issue. you can remove mod fixer from it. https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/1fffxdo/p7_how_to_remove_bundled_mod_fixer/ here's a guide
Ok, I tested it with RingOfFavor (didn't do BagsBagsBags yet), but when I try to launch the save, the game crashes, that's the first time I see this game crash :'(
YEEEESSSS ! I did it with BagsBagsBags too since it also had a mod fixer and now I could use my saves !!! Thank you so much
To be sure that I have a working save without mods next time, if I remember correctly, I just have to deactivate mods, save load order while in game and then save the game, right?
Hey! Thanks so much for this, I was able to open up my saved game, but I did see that the Carry Weight and Gold Zero Weight mods are still not compatible with Update Patch 7 of the game. I also still have Mod Fixer in my BG3MM as an override, should I delete that or go through the pak. and unpak. for that mod as well?
Hi, just to say i've been troubleshooting for four hours too and came across the same problem that you had you as of patch 7. The person posting the "remove mod fixer by unpacking de mods thing" made my day as it finally worked for me.
for those of you who got the removing-modfixer trick working, how? When i unpack the mod with the tool, I don't get the text file as part of the unpacked files :[
Not sure if it's this mod that causes it, but I noticed that whenever I have a party member's inventory open, and then switch to my character, the game freezes. I'm using the x20 version.
Sounds a lot like the game's normal shenanigans related to inventory switching with loaded inventories. IIRC some other weight or bag mod mentioned that one. Solution is gonna sound dumb but... don't switch characters with open inventories.
To be blunt many if not most games get pretty darn laggy if you try to bypass their hoarding restrictions. Because less items = less data to load, and most of those game weren't optimised to load more than you could normally hoard.
So even with weight limits gone DO try to offload some junk every now and again. Should help.
This was an issue in DOS2 as well (same engine). The UI slows down when you fill up your inventory with too much junk. Eventually, you get to a point where you can go make a coffee while you wait for the inventory to open. :P
Upgraded to Patch 8. BG3mm Sees the Stand Alone for picking up large objects as a duplicate of the 100x Weight limit pak. And wants to delete it. Not sure why. Just thought you should know.
Which version are you using? Using the x100 sends me straight to desktop.
Edit: I figured out the issue (at least for me). While going through my mod list via a process of elimination I found out that the in game mod manager kept on re-enabling a certain mod that I had disabled. After about 5 cycles of crashes and disabling I was perplexed for I knew every other mod functioned fine in the current patch. Anyway I just uninstalled the mod using the in game mod manager instead of unchecking it and all was fine. (for reference the mod was Warlock Unleashed, possibly an outdated version that somehow wound its way being installed).
How is this tagged cheating/unbalanced? What can one do with all the extra carried weight? Stack more barrels? IIRC you don't need cheats for that cheese to work as it is.
I think the only weight limit one should consider a balance hazard is the throwing weight limit, no?

you cannot edit a save like that.

Tl:Dr: This mod functions optimally.
Stack more barrels?
