Unfortunately, Gale as Owen doesn't work for me and I don't exactly know why, I downloaded it with Vortex. Shadowheart works though! Don't know about Karlach yet because well ... evil run ... needn't say more ...
Just a heads up, these do not need to be packaged as .PAK files to work and in fact it's a bad idea to do this.
Instead, download the community tools and unpack this mod and put the files into the correct folders manually (as loose files)
They work perfectly and can be installed and removed at any point with no need for a patch or fix or anything like that.
Honestly it's really frustrating how many mods which could be loose file mods are being uploaded as .PAKs or otherwise overcomplicated and cluttering up BGMM and causing risks that don't need to be there. Just use loose files.
Please correct me if I am missing something! I tested this with loose files and it seems to work and I definitely prefer loose over .PAK for these type of swaps
I use the Abby/Karlach file, I seem to be having an issue with Karlach's head in game. Karlach is shown as Abby as intended, but when zooming in or out while Karlach's face is in view it changes her face(and only her face) skin tone from the normal red to a average pink human skin tone while her body remains her red skin tone. I have all my graphics on ultra settings and no mods that alter companion appearances aside from this one BTW. Any idea what might be causing this? I can post a screenshot if you'd like.
Hi, I love how these mods look but I can't get them to work. It seems like the path for where they go may have changed? Would it be possible for you make loose versions of them?
So, I installed the mod, and loaded up my game, but seeing it on my save with Shadow's new hair, I ended up not liking it. No harm no foul, but after I removed it, it for some reason retroactively applied the mod to all previous saves. Now when I go to load the save, it says "Mod Missing: Ellie Head", and will not load after clicking to load anyway (this mod was installed between the two most recent saves, however it's saying it has been installed since 30 hours ago). So I tried about 20 different things (even using a mod editor to remove the mod from showing on my save) but then the game refuses to acknowledge the save exists. I have tried reinstalling the mod, but it still says the mod is missing (even going so far as to reload and export previous save's mod load order, and re-export, but no dice. I even loaded the save where I installed it (in BG3MM, so it matches the load order and everything), re-exporting as current, but still, nothing.
Completely destroyed by the fact that I will have to start a new character, and 40 hours of game are lost.
I've just tested uninstalling the pak's and you're right, for the reason the game just breaks when you want to uninstall them... I don't know why it breaks so bad for a simple head replacer but it does, so I'm going to add warnings on the mod page. My game that wasn't loading after removing the mod I got to load again when I put the mod back, even if it was an updated version. So I made an "undo" version of the mod that loads the OG Shadowheart and Karlach heads and am uploading it here. You'll still need to have the "mod" loaded but it'll bring back their appearance if you change your mind mid-run. Then for a new run, you can uninstall. At least I think so, sorry if this doesn't work.
You are totally fine. Thank you for doing this. I like your idea, but it wont work for me, but may work for others. I have done a lot more research, and it's not just your mod it's happening to, but it is happening exclusively to saves created post Patch 5. I still think having a spare upload isn't a bad idea, because if you have a save from a previous patch, and then reload the removed mod, it will work, just not for me who is a late BG3 adopter lol. I think it will be patched eventually, making the ghost mod unnecessary when that happens, but for now, it could help. I really appreciate you taking the time to try to figure this out as well. A+ service! <3
Do you mind if i patch these two heads for other custom races? I will use no assets and only reference the VisualResource ID and users will have to install your mod as well.

I just want Abby as Karlach head, but I don't want the other two two heads from your mod, is it possible?
Would love to see Hermione/rey skywalker for the future
