I have this bug where all the origin characters have white hair and weird skin, like Shadowheart has drow-ish purple skin, Lae'zel has orange-ish human skin etc. Not sure if it's caused by this mod or some other but I faintly recall hearing someone else have this bug too on some mod. Anybody seen this bug before?
Edit : Okay, it's from Appearance Edit Enhanced according to this post.
If I use this mod, Lae'zel spots disappear and she is completely smooth. I am not using the mod that makes githyanki have smooth texture (I love their spots lol) But when I uninstall this mod her body textures become fucked and she has dark green textures instead of her skin. The Pak or loose version doesn't matter have the same issue either way. The only mod I have that affects Lae'zel is her earing mod but that is independent of this mod. All other githyanki are fine, I'm really lost on what is causing the issue just want Bae'zel to have her spots :(
I know this is an older comment, but I'm having the exact same issue and was wondering if you could tell me where you found those leftover files so I can locate them and see if that's the solution for me to?
this is just my experience so far, but they seem to still work. trip's shaders needed an update which just came out. haven't had any issues so far on patch 7 after I updated trip's shaders.
I have a question. If I use the PAK file for a certain companion should I use loose textures that are specified for this companion? Cause when I use the PAK textures file with e.g. Shadowheart file, No Scars mod for Karlach stops working as if I used the merged version. Am I doing smth wrong?
I was reluctant to add this and the Player and NPC mod because of all the bug reports in the comments, but I bit the bullet for the sake of giving the male characters in this game a layer of fat over their abs—a mod that requires this to work.
I installed it and haven't had any issue! At first, I pulled a dumb moment and forgot the texture files were still downloading, so I forgot to install them in the BG3 Mod Manager and indeed saw the glitched black textures (green instead for Lae'zel, fittingly), but then I realized my error and corrected it.
So, for anyone worried, the .pak file version worked fine for this player right here; no loose file version necessary. I cannot vouch for a Vortex installation. But you might have the same experience as me: install the .pak versions for the Old Shaders and the textures using BG3 Mod Manager, for both this mod and the Player and NPC - Old Shaders mod, and potentially have absolutely no issue whatsoever.
Hopefully anyone else whose game isn't cooperating quite so well will be able to solve whatever issues they're having with it. But if you're like me and you were hesitant to use it because of the comments, I'd suggest giving it a go! BG3 Mod Manager makes it easy to uninstall .pak files if it doesn't work out for you.
Thanks, Joell560, for your work! This made my game better, and also my day. :)
Having the same issue, specifically with Shadowheart. I have Old Shaders, Part One, and only the individual files for male companions.
Installing her individual file from here did not fix it, she still has the black texture.
Removing the files from Part One restores her textures.
What I figured out is that all my other current companions look fine (Minthara untested), but I am using texture replacers for all of them except for Shadowheart. However, if I go back into your archived files, download the last loose files version, and move Shadowheart's textures into my data folder, she has her textures back.
So, I think you have to have custom textures installed, or you might run into the black texture issues?
Having a similar issue with Shadowheart. I have part 1&2 pak installed and texture loose files are only not working with her. I tried the file you linked here but it won't import with bg3 mod manager.
so i am having an issue im not 100% sure what the cause is... the sweat texture (seen on characters like in grymforge) will not appear on the body, only the face. i had this issue with tav and found it was being effected by Plus Races and conflicting with Trip's old shaders, and after moving Races to the bottom, my tav was good. but the issue remains with the companions and i know its this mod that is conflicting because taking it out makes it fine-- and i assume this is the same issue of old shaders conflicting with Plus Races. because it adds up the same based off all the mods i have taken out to trouble shoot. its a weird issue i havent seen anyone mention but i think its issues with this mod and something else but im not sure. i have the (textures) pak too. i have loaded this mod before and after the ones i thought were the issue, sadly no change. not sure if i need to do something about this mod, or another one
hmm i was having this issue pre patch 6 with this, if youre saying that sweat was actually working in patch 5. so, not sure if i was having the same issue. regardless, this still means the issue cant be fixed until you can are able to make some kind of update or? im mostly confused bc i dont see anyone else having this issue now or before so i was hoping to find a solution-- mainly because i assume i cant use mods like No Abs without this
With Patch 5, Virtual Textures were added to the shaders and at the same time the sweat effect was fixed. But to have texture replacement mods work again, the shaders had to be reverted to files from a previous patch. As patch 4 didn't have the sweat effect fixed, this mod and any others that rely on the old shaders won't either.
Until shader files can be modified, the sweat bug will remain.
okay interesting. i had this issue with trip's old shaders up to now (after it had been fine for a bit during patch 5) but managed to fixed it so i thought that wouldnt be an issue with these then. i know people using this right now who arent having the bug so i didnt think it was patch related or about the changes with VT
so astarion is missing whenevr I used the astarion shader.pak like the whole thing is gone not just the body, it includes the armors. he's missing like a ghost and if I use the player and npc.pak my game lost so many textures. either the assets and UI... but if I just use trips' shaders and texture. my tav's body is missing in his camp clothes. any idea? I use mac btw
edit: I changed the astarionshader.pak to companionshader.pak, now assets and UI won't load
edit 2: found the reason, all the mods affecting data folder won't work on mac apparently so the shader simply can't read the textures thats why theyre missing 🫠 forget I said anything, these work flawlessly on windows
Linux user here, so I can't speak to mac with any authority, but I had issues with many of the mods in this cluster because they were built for and by windows users - meaning for them, a_texture.dds and A_texture.dds and a_texture.DDS etc were all interchangeable. I had to manually rename a lot of files to get things working correctly. Don't know if that helps, or if the mac version just... doesn't look at data overrides at ALL or what, but I thought I'd mention it.
I thought it was the latter but the i remember dont hair mods basically have parts of it on data folder as a dds file... but somehow the packaged shader texture doesnt work.... while hair mods work like charms.
hey, so the astarion shader pak still doesn't work and astarion is still empty and when I put wyll shader pak, he also went missing. so I figure the fault is in the companion shader pak files that somehow don't play nice with mac not in the textures
BUT I've just learned that apparently data overrides WORK (for other mods). I just need to change the extension to lowercase so thank you for pointing out to me
hi, thanks for fast response. I downloaded it and it still doesn't work. astarion is still missing...
however I unpacked trips' shader, and I noticed the files are named with vulkan and dx11, could it be the problem lies on trip's shader because afaik mac os has their own API (not vulkan or dx11)
So I hate to be the bearer of bad(ish) news, especially since I brought up the case sensitivity thing to begin with, but... this mod actually was already cased properly! I didn't go digging when I brought it up, since I didn't even know if it was an issue for our Mac player here, but now that I have looked this morning, .DDS is correct for those of us on case-sensitive systems. The file renaming I had to do was in some of the other mods that overwrite this one's base textures. So uh, anyway, the original loose files version and the first .pak version work great on linux. The version you put together for linux/mac doesn't. I should have looked more closely before I mentioned it; I didn't expect any mod makers to go immediately jump through hoops on behalf of that comment. You have both my sincere apologies and my thanks on behalf of all non-windows players for the attempt!

tried updating, nope
tried rearranging to the current order in vortex, nope
I do, tried loading it both before and after.

Remove the previous textures PAK.
Thanks.
Edit: I've narrowed it down to 'Orin Visuals for Trips Changeling' for anyone wondering.

What part did you rename? Just the .dds?
