Since patch 6 and latest updates, crafting is even more nitpicking with equipped items and you'll recibe an invalid combiantion and lost the item when trying to customize an equipped item. Always unequip items before crafting. This has been fixed now.
Important: This is the same exact file previously on Elven Weaponry Chainmail optional files. If you already have it, you don't need to change to this one.
So I'm a little bit dumb and just need some clarification: use this instead of transmog or is this different than transmog? Does your gear not work with transmog and this is the alternative?
This mod change between optional predefined visuals (and sometimes stats, tipes...) of some on my mods items. Basically, it makes optional versions of the items.
What it exactly change for an item (if anything) is detailed on the Cuztomization section of each mod.

So maybe I'll have to just mess around with it to figure some stuff out, but to be very specific, I already have JWL crafting and do the soul coin upgrading (for example phalar aluve to "very rare" then to "legendary") and doing that uses a newly introduced "anvil" but I really like the idea your dwarven rune crafting and I know that uses an anvil too but different name "runic anvil" so what I intend to do is craft runes with your mod into an already modified "legendary" phalar aluve. I hope that all makes sense?
That's not a problem, my runes will work with any weapon base game or modded. To explain it simple think of them as coating oils from the base game, but with permanent effects.
The only thing you need to take into account is that due how crafting work in the game, Any rune weapon you use in crafting (ie, for example improving it with soul smithing or one of my weapons changing it looks through this mod) you will lose any rune on it (As crafting as a technical level destroy the item and create a new one). This is already mentioned in the rules of the runes in the mod description and on the in game book.
So ideally you first do any improved that involved crafting, like soulsmithing, then add thing like my runes that are no crafting improvements.
hey, thank you for the really cool mod, but i'm having a little problem, when i try to combine itens with the smithing tool it just says invalid combination and i cant seem to make it work
all of the elven weapons, other than that only some cosmetics like faces of faerun. I will add a note that i tried using the tool with some armors and another weapons and it seems to me that it just wont work with long and short bows
Can't really replicate this, all four turn into shortswords fine for me.
Are other crafting features working fine for you?
Look at several things: -You need the last version of BOTH elven daggers and rogue mods, shortswords didn't exist before. -Load order is correct: Elven rogue must load AFTER elven daggers
What other things have interactions with the smithing tool?
Smithing tool works for everything but weapons. Just crashes the game with weapons for some reason. It's probably because I have another mod that adds finesse to all longswords. That's the only mod I have that interacts with weapons that I can think of. But I still don't see how that would affect changing a dagger into a shortsword as neither are longswords.
I doubt making longsword finesse have something to do. Most likely something like interface mods even a corrupt file on your game files save. If not something messing with the very base of the root templates for weapons, as there's really no difference betweem crafting formulas from armor and weapons.
finally gonna try this out for some of your cool armor and clothes. question, because i didn't read it anywhere: does load order matter? should we load the smithing kit first and then the outfit mods, or vice versa? thanks!

Have you look at the customization section of the mods pages to see which ones are possible?
Seens to me that you are just trying to combine things that don't have any combination
