I don't use that mod so I have no first hand knowledge, but I'm told the comments for it have the instructions for how to install tattoos. Basically you just need to replace the tattoo file of that mod with the one from this.
Hey, first of all, Kudos for still montoring here. I've been testing the Mystraq Tatoo for a bit now. The Tattoos stretch and move at times, as i happens with real tattoos also. I speak from experience with my 3 IRL tattoos.
Since this mod didn't get any User Images yet, i uplaoded one. I hope you like, thank you for this thoughtful nice mod. <3
Yeah the stretching is something I can do nothing about since the tattoos move with the head. There might be some magical 'place tattoo here for it to be still' spot but I haven't found it yet lol.
hey so im doing a bhaal blood cleric, bard build with no instrument with the idea being that im a fallen aasimar whos wings arent skeletal but instead a deep black leading into crimson red who uses shadow and blood to attack and control my enemies while i find myself under the infulence of bhaal without my knowledge and i was wondering if you could make maybe for the more F'd up gods LIKE bhall, a version where instead of a tattoo its instead a scar as the influence of the god drove you to carve its symbol into yourself against your will.
So I can mod scars, and I have considered doing some scar mods I'd share here, but that's an involved process I don't currently have the time for. Scars aren't like tattoos; you can't just draw a shape and slap it on the correct file. You have to deal with normal maps and such with those, and getting them to look good can be a bit more tricky.
This is absolutely wonderful! Thank you! I've been meaning to make a Jergal cleric and now I have even more reason to haha. Is there a chance of adding different spots or versions of it? I'm glad to see someone requested the Oak Father already, perhaps Melora (Wildmother) too?
I'm probably not going to make another Jergal because it's tricky to get to work in different placements due to it stretching and glitching so easily. And I'm not adding anything that's not prominently present in the game. Silvanus is the last one I'll be adding, and after that I won't be adding new deities because then I'd have to hunt down symbol designs and re-design them to be tattoos that work in single color and fit the overall design of the other symbols in this game, and it's quite time consuming, so I do have to stop somewhere.
I get that loose file mods can be intimidating but they're actually really easy. You just need to know where your game files are (SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Baldurs Gate 3 if you got the game from steam), and drop the generated folder of the mod into the data folder in the game files. The generated folder of this mod is always in the ver.x folder.
The thing with loose files is that you can't have more than one of them modify the same thing, so you can't have two tattoo mods or two scar mods etc. They replace the same vanilla file and they override each other, so you have to pick one. The good thing about loose files is that if you want to have two different tattoos for example on two different play throughs, you don't need to close the game to swap the files out (another reason why I copy instead of drag lol). Also, this mod will not work with stuff like unique tav unless you place this mod in the files of that mod. So if you're using that mod you could be doing everything right and you wouldn't get this mod to show up, because that mod doesn't use the vanilla file this alters, it has its own tattoo file to pull from. Even with .pak mods, you need to be aware of how your mods are interacting to avoid conflicts.
Can I request combining two tattoos from another mod? I have the Rathienal Mod and I wanna have the Selune Tattoo, but...unfortunately I'm being told that I can't do both
I'm not going to touch someone else's mods, sorry. You can't have two tattoo mods in use because they're loose file mods, and they override each other because they alter the same file. Good news, though! You can swap the tattoo .DDS file without even closing the game. Since I assume you want these tattoos for two different play throughs (since you can't have two tattoos on a same character unless you're swapping them in the magic mirror and that's not a problem with loose files), you can just do that. It takes like 10 seconds. Just remember to make copies of both .DDS files and save them in a place where you can easily find them so that you don't accidentally delete them.
SO sorry for this as I reckon this might be a silly question, but does it have to pasted into the "SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Baldurs Gate 3/Data" and not on the local game directory? :) I've pasted the tattoo I want into the generated data folder as instructed, am not using the Unique Tav mod but it still doesn't work. :( It's the version 1 of the Lolth tattoo.
Yes, it has to be pasted into the Data folder because it's a loose file. It shows up fine for me, so I think you've got a folder path issue. Did you paste the generated folder from the mod files into the data folder and not something else? The full path for the tattoo's .dds file should be "SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Baldurs Gate 3/Data/Generated/Public/Shared/Assets/Characters/_Models/_SharedAssets/SHARED_Atlas/Resources/Skin_Atlas_Head_SHR_Tattoo_A_MSK1.dds".
does this require anything else to work? ive put it into the date folder but its not working for me still, im new to modding so i may be doing it wrong xD
No, it's a loose file so it doesn't need anything else. Are you running other tattoo mods or maybe the unique tav mod? Tattoo mods will outright conflict with each other (if you got a prompt to overwrite, you've got more than one tattoo mod), and with the unique tav mod you'd need to put this into the tattoo folder of that mod. Other than that the only thing that would mess it up is a wrong folder order. Still, if you tell me which tattoo is causing you trouble, I can make sure it's not actually an issue with the file itself. I mean there's over 40 of them, I'm sure I've missed an error or two somewhere along the line.
hey! thanks for getting back so quick. i am using the unique tav mod, i am trying to get the bhaal v1 to work, i placed it into the face tattoo folder but still nothing, im not running any other face tattoos but i am running body tattoos, will that affect it?
Okay yeah the problem is the unique tav mod using different file paths and overriding all the vanilla CC files, which this mod technically is. You'd need to place the .DDS file from this mod into that mod's tattoo folder, make sure this mod's .DDS file has the same name as the one that mod uses (and delete the mod's own file, of course), and it should show up. I'm sure someone on that mod's page has the correct path listed since I don't know it from the top of my head.
I pasted the full generated folder for Lathander into the data folder and the tattoo still shows up as the base game one - Scrawled Constellation. I also have Playable Satyr race installed so wondered if that could have caused conflict or if I should have done something differently when putting the generated folder in. Edit- Just tried it with another race and it works
Maybe after I decide I'm done adding to this or updating it in any way, but right now I'm not doing it to keep updating, fixing and adding things easier for myself.

And thank you for the image!!

Either way, this is great!
It's all good, it was more out of curiosity and not knowing the intricacies of modding (aside from being a lot of work).

Thank you for your hard work!
