    FAQ

    Does this affect NPCs?
Maybe? In a way that actually matters? Probably not?
Admittedly I assumed that these changes would not matter much if at all for NPCs. Most NPCs aren't rolling skill checks or using non-standard weapons for their class. If you know of a specific NPC who is supposed to be a serious fight while also being reliant on Civil Militia, then let me know who it is and I'll see if I can look into it.

Why are the weapon training options greyed out?
Your selected class (including the default selection of Barbarian) already gives the proficiencies that the greyed out passives would have provided you, so BG3 disables the redundant options. Either pick your desired class first or, if you're playing a class that doesn't need these, you can just ignore this being 0/1 or change classes temporarily if the 0/1 thing bothers you. I purposely chose not to define a default selection for this feature so that the game would remind the player to go back and pick one of these when they are finally able to, since it's a bit out of order and unintuitive.

Half-Elf companions has no weapon training by default?
To make character creation more intuitive with things being out of order I decided to leave Half-Elf Weapon Training with no default selection. This means half-elf companions might need a respec if you're trying to benefit from weapon training on them. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Can you do the original Half-Elf ability scores instead of Tasha's?
It's theoretically possible but an unexpectedly large amount of work. For some reason when they implemented the change to Tasha's ability scores Larian put them on the classes instead of the race and because of this any chance to even one race's ability scores requires changing every race and class in the game and after all that I would definitely want to make sure it is not breaking NPCs ability scores. Maybe some day...

Hi, thank you for this amazing mod!
I have to wonder though, how I would safely uninstall it midgame if I have to? I just made it inactive (was testing something else), and after loading a save with my half-elf and choosing to respec at Withers game crushed. Unsuprisingly lol, it's not really a complaint, merely a suggestion to add in the description a warning about this.

I guess a mod that lets you change race would be a workaround. Change race > Remove mod > Change race back

I found a conflict- if you have the background skills choice mod you will still get the 2 extra skills but they will be seemingily random

hi and thank you for the mod.

i can't seem to make the weapon training bit work

It keeps promptin "!choice pending" but in the UI i don't see "weapon training" option under "race"

I was debating putting a note in the description page about the +2/+1/+1 abilities. I guess at some point I decided to leave it out? I should add that back...

This is theoretically possible but for some reason Larian put the Tasha's ability scores on the classes instead of the races. That makes this a VERY widespread change when it shouldn't have needed to be. Just moving the ability scores from the classes back to the races is not particularly hard to do, but then I'd worry about if and how it affects NPCs. The stuff here so far I just kind of assumed wouldn't matter much for the majority of NPCs, if any, as they usually aren't leaning on out of class typical weapon choices or rolling lots of skill checks as far as I'm aware (let me know if there is an exception that I should look into), but potentially missing/wrong ability scores on any race/class is MUCH more likely to actually affect the game noticeably, so I'd want to learn how all that is done.

It's on my mind but I need a rather large burst of motivation to strike before I try to tackle it... >.<

Hey there, thanks for the work put into your mod =)

If you disable the default Civil Militia trait, will NPC half-elves be missing it or will they get the one from the choosable options?

Sorry for the late reply, have to tweak my notifications here...

The stuff these mods are doing I'd just kind of assumed wouldn't come up much with NPCs. NPCs usually aren't the ones making skill checks or trying to use out of class weapons, esp with Civil Mitilia being a late change to half elves. I mean maaaaybe there is a half elf wizard boss who uses a spear and shield expecting to have Civil Militia... and then tries to melee...as a wizard... and expects to win a 4v1? I know I do weird stuff like that but generally NPCs don't... xD

If you have a notable NPC you know of that might be affected by the loss of Civil Militia I could look into it.

not sure if it's an issue due to the new patch, but when I go to make a half elf, it says I have none of the racial options selected, but also gives me all of them active?

I'm using both the disable civilian militia and the weapon training one. (I have disable set higher in the load order if that impacts it)

    any idea what's the issue?

edit: did some testing, and can confirm it's not from the disable civilian militia mod, sadly it's the weapon training one
edit 2: I will leave this up just in case anyone else has concerns like mine, but I have discovered there is no issue with the mod, simply with me XD
it functioned correctly once I chose a different class from the default.
let others learn from my mistakes.

thank you for the wonderful mod

Yeah there is a note on the description page about existing weapon proficiency, i.e. from classes, disabling these as options. Glad you got it working. xD
